One thing im anxious about at the wedding is the card box. Its just that I trust my close friends a family but i dont trust too well people i dont know as much. ( Guests someone might bring or some of my fiances ppl hes inviting)

I thought about putting the box and screwing it into a pedistol under the table clothe that way if its tried to be lifted they would lift the whole thing and it would fall all over. I worry so much about certain things and not that this is all about gifts and money but i would be pissed if someone just picked up my small card box and walked out. IT HAPPENS.

Has anyone else had any small anxieties over this?

I told my coordinator to place ourgift table in the reception hall instead of the lobby and then right before our entrance, put the bird cage (for the cards) under our head table so that it's right there with us. I don't trust anyone with cards that may contain money. I've seen and heard some scary stories smh.

My Bestman and his wife used a birdcage. At the end of the night, there didn't seem to be a lot of cards in there. Not sure if they didn't get much or if somebody lifted it. We are going to use something more secure, while not looking like fort knox.

Could you parents empty it a few times throughout the day?

My parents are so scared this is going to happen...they're being really weird about it and have mentioned it like 4 times. I'll just assign some responsible aunt or something to keep an eye on it! I doubt we'll get boxed gifts but if we do I'm sure I can put them in a separate room...

Our venue keeps the card box basically right in front of our table in the reception room.

Not really. Our venue is at a private estate. I'm sure it could still happen with vendors, servers etc.

I will make sure it is in plain sight. You just never know

It had never even occurred to me to worry about this until I read about it on here, but now that I think about it, there is one cousin that could be an issue, plus probably a random plus one or two.

Either way, I think our plan will just be to keep it out in the reception area where it is easy to keep an eye on it, and maybe to ask my DOC to empty it once or twice throughout the day.

Heck yes! Our reception is at a restaurant. The card box will be in our private room and we will take it with us.

Do you think it would be wrong or weird if after the ceremony and cocktail hour are over we take the box and gifts away and lock them up in a room or our car?

I'm going to make my cardbox so big and heavy, it will be obvious if someone tried to make off with it lol!

This is why I want to have my wedding on a private estate instead of a big venue or hotel ballroom where my wedding is open to anyone to walk in! Where it's just my guests and vendors. I trust my guests, because all my friends and family know they don't have to steal from us! All you have to do is ask and we'll happily give!

Absolutely. Someone stole all of the cards at my 25th birthday party. It was horrible. And I'm pretty sure it was the venue who did it.

I made my own it is a wishing well and it is pretty big it will be hard to try to take it un-noticed. But we are still going to have the card table near the bridal table which is the furthest away from any doors.

We're at a semi-private venue (it's kind of a beach-house-reception place) and no one but guests have a reason to be in the building. That said, it is on a beach so Spring Breakers might try to get up there. We'll have a cop posted (as per venue rules) and my mom's friend is going to clean out the box every half hour or so. Not worried.

Well, unfortunately I have a few family member that I am worried about.. My first idea was to just get a box that is hard to get into but my mother found this beautful vintage luggage box that we decided to use for the card box because its pretty! My mother, being the crazy lady that she is (love her for it!) told me not to worry she had a plan.. The plan? My mother is going to come to the wedding with a stack of "fake" cards with our names on it and keep an eye on the box.. every time she sees someone put a card in, she is going to nonchalantly (if that's possible for her) swap the card out for one of her "fake" cards..

Not really, but before dinner, my dad took all the gifts and the card suitcase out to his car.

I'm assigning my 9 year old nephew and 6 year old niece to be the 'guest book guards" and the card box will be on the same table. His job will be to literally sit next to it until dinner. Then at dinner my parents empty it and lock it up in their car.

Everyone we are inviting are close friends and family that are on the up and up as well. However, if anyone has any bright ideas, the security I was required to hire for my ceremony venue will be transitioning to my reception venue (since I'm paying them for all evening), so I believe that should cover any issues.

A 100 dollar bill disappeared from the money box from my cousin's wedding. be careful who you trust with things like that. not to accuse anyone, but the only one that had the key was a trusted friend.

Because of where it will be set up, yes I am. Its in a nook near a staircase that goes up to the bathrooms.... Trying to figure out a way to make sure they are secure.
