Welcome bags

Greilyn, on June 28, 2019 at 9:33 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11
Hey guys! So I live in Jersey and my wedding is about an hour away from my home. I’ve created a room block because I do have guests coming from out of town. I’m not sure how many people are staying in the hotel I picked and how many are staying elsewhere. My question is should I have welcome bags? If you think I should how many should I make?

Hello fellow Jersey bride! If you do welcome bags, I would only do them for the hotel you have the block at. And after the block expires I’m sure you can call the hotel and see how many people booked under your block. I would maybe add a few more for those that are staying but may not have used the block code.

Our hotel was able to give us a list of who booked under the room block maybe yours can do the same?

I think a welcome bag is such a nice touch and I always appreciate it as a guest. We had a DW so for ours we had beach bags with fans, sunglasses, deck of cards, sunscreen, lip balm, cookies, snacks, waters, and the itinerary for the weekend.

I love the idea of welcome bags. I personally have only been to one wedding where they were given out but I think it adds a nice touch. Even though my wedding will not be far, I am still getting a block of rooms and am going to have welcome bags for the guests.

Your hotel should be able to tell you how many rooms are booked in your block. We are doing welcome bags for our main block (around 45 rooms).

We have access to our hotel block so we can see who's booked and for how many nights - if your hotel doesn't have that option, I'm sure you can call them and see how many bags you'd need. I've said this in a lot of previous posts, but my local welcome center will put together packets highlighting the town for free as long as you give them a little notice - might be worth looking into if you have out of town guests who might have some time to kill in the area.

I'm not doing welcome bags persay but I'm doing kinda like a newspaper for all the rooms. I'm just doing one per room, so one per couple.

We're doing welcome bags for everyone staying in the two hotels we have rooms blocks at. As others mentioned, make a few extra for those that are staying at the hotel but didn't use the room block. Our plan is to buy some water and snacks from Costco and put them in a fancy paper bag with a brochure about the area and maybe some tylenol. We'll also include details about the wedding like the shuttle schedule. It doesnt have to be fancy at all, but guests will appreciate having a little water and snack.

Thank you for everyone’s feedback ladies! I really appreciate it. I’m going to see if my hotel will be able to give me info closer to the wedding if so then I will make them. Thanks again!

I'm also from Jersey, but getting married in Key West. For a wedding an hour away, I don't think welcome bags are necessary. Chances are some people will live closer to the wedding location, and some farther. However, if it is something you really want to do, the hotel should be able to give you a list of how many people have reserved in your block. If there are people traveling in that aren't listed, just ask where or if they are staying in town. I think the other girls are right with what to put in them. Snacks, water and hangover help is always appreciated!
