Weekday Wedding Advice Needed.

Gena, on February 16, 2020 at 9:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 18
My fiance and I plan to have a weekday wedding since the prices are lower than weekend weddings. We're considering either Monday or Thursday.

We'll have between 100 - 120 guests and about 1/3 of the guests will be traveling from out of state or out of the country. We haven't decided if we'll have the wedding in town or at a venue about 1 hour away.
How do we decide which day will be better, Monday or Thursday? There are pros and cons for each of those days, but we're not sure what factors to consider when making a final decision. Thanks!

We are getting married on the Thursday before Good Friday. Most people in our will already be off anyway.

If I had to travel from out of town, neither is ideal but Monday I think is a bit better. This way I can travel over the weekend and not have to take out as many days off of work. For Thursday, I would probably have to take Wednesday-Friday off of work, while with Monday, I may only have to take Monday and Tuesday.

I think I’d prefer Thursday just because I’d extend a weekend

I would suggest Thursday too but the pp above made a good point about how it could affect travel for our of town guests. Truthfully you two should choose a day that works best for you not others.

I think I’d prefer an extended weekend Thursday so I didn’t have to rush back Monday night/early Tuesday. I guess it also depends what the ceremony/reception time would be. If it’s later, Thursday would be better IMO.

I say Thursday to extend the weekend for guests.

We are getting married on a Thursday this year 4th of July weekend. I would suggest trying to find a Thursday right before a holiday weekend. Everyone loves being able to extend holidays!

Yes, since we're doing it in the evening, Thursday seems best.

I’d get. Thursday where the Friday is a holiday or a Monday that’s a holiday. We choose a Sunday where the Monday is a national holiday.

I think Thursday would be a better choice for out of town guests, but Monday would work well if you're getting married on a long holiday.

We chose Monday. This gives our guests time to travel over the the weekend and also spend time with us before. We are making a weekend of it and everyone has loved they idea! They don't mind taking the Tuesday to head back.

Thursday is better personally for my work schedule and my husband's. But since it's a weekday wedding I'd expect more "no" responses than a Saturday wedding.

Honestly I hate having to take a PTO day for a wedding, I would respond no to a weekday wedding, but I understand why couples may choose to do this. I would say Thursday would be better though.
