Having a weekday wedding saves so much money!!! i think it would be well worth it. ive attended weekday weddings where plenty of faces were present, so i dont think you need to worry about people not attending as long as it is after the typical work hours (6 or 7 pm). i think its a great idea. hope everything works out!!!

I'm not having a Friday wedding, but I've been to one and I have thoughts about it.

DON'T have a long gap between the ceremony and reception. If your ceremony is early, people have to take the day off from work and will be annoyed to do this if they end up spending time waiting for your wedding instead of being at it. DO have an open bar. It can be limited (wine/beer/signature drinks, etc) but your guests shouldn't have to but their own drinks.DON'T invite everyone you know. Polite people won't turn down a wedding invitation if they can reasonably get themselves to the wedding, but all of your co-workers and their (necessary if co-workers are invited) partners don't need to be there.DO be very nice to your guests and thank them for coming. Everyone should do this, but it's even more important if you're asking them to do something inconvenient (by going to a Friday wedding).
Summary:Yes, people will go. Only invite people that you, as a couple, really care about, and be extra nice to them.

I personally am not a fan of weekday weddings because they require people to take time off work. In saying this, I think of the choices available to you, a Friday wedding is the best option!
Personally the only day of the week I would take off to attend someone’s wedding would be a Friday - extended weekend + plenty of time to recover from the drinking. But, I would still be prepared that you may not necessarily get as many people coming as you would a weekend wedding.

Even better! A 6pm start on a Friday means people can possibly even work that day if they want to.
This is like the dream of weekday weddings !

My wedding is on a Friday! We intentionally picked a Friday, since our wedding is somewhat of a destination wedding in our state, and we wanted to make sure that everyone had all day Saturday to spend time in the area. So far, we haven't had any complaints from guests, and most of them said they plan to turn it into a mini vacation. People will find a way to attend if they want to attend. It is also cheaper to have a Friday wedding than a Saturday wedding.

I'm having a Friday wedding. The ceremony starts at 6pm. It was much more cost efficient and people have plenty of time to take off work if they would like to attend. I figured if I'm not worth you taking a half day to celebrate with me, I probably should not be spending the cost per person on you. People also work on the weekends so for weekend weddings they have to take off. All in all, those who want to be there will be. Do what works best for you.

I love Friday weddings! It’s a great way to start the weekend and still have your weekend. Yes people may have to take off work a half or full day but it’s worth it!

I think this really depends on your guest list and personal comfort. It can save a whole heck ton of money to have a weekday wedding, and if the majority of your guests are local, I would say go for it. My brother and his fiance are having a Friday wedding and I won't say I'm a huge fan, because I live in NC and they live in OR. The wedding is in WA and as part of the wedding party I'll have to take additional time off of work, 4 months after my own wedding, to be there. Which isn't great, but I'm not missing my brothers wedding! My own wedding, we would have preferred a weekday to save money, but all but about 10 people out of 90 are coming in from out of state. So it would be have been kind of terrible of us to be that inconsiderate to people traveling.

Love this because it applies to all weddings. Hence, the reason we only have 65 guests who are our true inner circle of special family and friends. People who we regularly speak to and interact with (not every single person who we know).

A Friday wedding is fine as long as it starts late enough to go home and change after work and it’s close enough to easily get to.

I personally don't mind weekday weddings so long as I have plenty of time to request the day off or request early leave. I am looking at maybe doing a weekday wedding as well but we are out of state and this may cause my guests some trouble. I guess once we talk some more with our parents and family to get their input we'll make a decision.

I think a Friday wedding is fine as long as you are planning on having it late enough in the evening. My husband's friend is getting married on a Friday, but it is going to be super inconvenient. He choose to have his wedding begin at 3 pm and we have to be to the wedding by 2:30 pm because the ceremony and reception are on an island and the boat is leaving the dock at exactly 3 pm. We are also traveling about 8 hours. In fact, most of their guests are traveling out of state. I personally think they should have had it at a later time to give their guests traveling more time, but they are also having a welcome party on Thursday which to mean doesn't make a lot of sense because they are now also expecting guests to take off Thursday as well.
