WEDDING WEBSITE- thoughts?

Heather, on March 25, 2016 at 5:38 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

I don't have one but I'm considering making one. What are the pros and cons?

Is is necessary? Or even worth my time to make one?

I used WW to make mine...

Good place to put all information for when guests inevitably lose their invites

    I have an FAQ

They are free! Why not have it for all your internet loving guests? I see no cons at all. (Assuming you keep it updated!)

@MsDani313, Your site is really good-- hope you don't mind me using it as inspiration to up my game Smiley smile

ETA: An actual answer to Heather's question. I was on the fence too, but I'm glad we chose to. A lot of my guests have already commented on it and like different parts of it. I put the menu up and even my 90+ grandmother went online to see!

I've found them VERY useful as a guest...especially an OOT guest. It let me RSVP, book the hotel room and buy stuff from the registry easily, instead of having to shuffle/relocate paper, etc.

The majority of our guests are from OOT and they seem to find it useful. We put basics...location, hotel block, registry. So it didn't take much time to put together.

MsDani313 I love your site. I think we have a lot of the same content. I just finished mine and sure hope the guests actually use it.

I don't want to steal your thunder but if anyone wants to see it, I'll share the link just let me know.

@MsDani313 you're site is beautiful! You have clearly thought a lot about your guests!! My fiance and I have been living together as well for quite some time and were thinking along the same lines as you and your FH for the Registry. I thought your Registry section was incredibly appropriate and tasteful! Thanks for the inspiration!

I think it a great tool! I am most excited about guests being able to RSVP online. I am still sending RSVP cards, but hopefully the excuses for "forgetting" or losing the RSVP will be eliminated.

I have a WW website and it is linked to our Honeyfund and other registries. I included the website address on the detail cards that will be sent with the invites. I also used the hashtag generator to make a # for photo sharing. At first, I thought the idea was tacky and self-indulgent, but it seems everything is done online these days. I had to let go of that part of my apprehension.

Thank you all so very much! FH and I spent a lot of time on it... Especially that registry page.

@TanyaM...feel free to share. We are here to be a help to other brides. More help the better!

Pro: online rsvp and tool to seat guests. Also, WW doesn't allow people to fill in names so only the people on your list can rsvp yes or no. No more questions concerning people adding more people to their rsvp than alloted.

We made one through WW...it's not necessary but it's nice to have! We're using it mainly for the hotel and registry info as we have a lot of OOT guests. We included our website on our STDs and we'll be including an insert with our invitations directing people to our website for more information.

The biggest con I see is that all of your details are public. FH is nervous that uninvited family might get the details from our site and show up unannounced. I've heard of a few brides on WW say that rogue aunts found their page and rsvp'ed!!

We haven't decided yet if we'll do one, but if we do it'll be mostly to share hotel and registry info with OOT guests (we have a lot traveling).

@Glassgiraffe you can put a password on your wedding website here on ww, as well as mange your guest list so that only guest you've invited can RSVP.

I'm using my wedding website as the sole way to RSVP. I have family that likes to bring tons of friends unannounced to events and I refuse to let them bring them or their new "flavor of the week"
