Wedding Weather :(

FutureMrsMartin, on July 21, 2016 at 8:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 31

So I woke up this morning and for some horrible reason I decided to check the weather forecast for not this Saturday, but next and it said 84 and raining Smiley sad I wish I never checked. It's every brides worst nightmare to have rain on their wedding day! I hope it changes as the days go on but ugh Smiley sad awful way to start the day! How did previous brides deal with rain on their wedding day? I'd love to hear stories to make me feel better!

Checking the weather this far out is useless. The forecast for that day could change literally 5 times between now and then. I understand though. I've been checking too but I know to take it with a grain of salt because the odds of it being what they are calling for right now are 50/50. I'd start taking stock in the forecast about 3 days out. Fingers crossed for you!

Anymore than 5 days out is not accurate at all.

Idk where you live, but I'm from Indiana where the weather changes literally every ten minutes, so the weather men and women are useless here. I wouldn't worry too much! If you have an outdoor wedding, be sure to have an indoor option ready to go. Otherwise, no worries! I've seen amazing rainy wedding day pics! They look so beautiful!

I checked the weather for mine about a week and 1/2 out and it called for 90* and thunderstorms. Do you know what weather we actually got? 75* and sunny. Weather is one of those things that you can do absolutely nothing to control, so just try to push it from your head and enjoy these last few days leading up to your wedding! Smiley smile

Try not to worry! Mine said the same thing and the rain ended up coming a day early, so I had absolutely gorgeous weather!

If you feel the need to plan, look into buying some clear umbrellas and maybe a cute pair of rain boots. I love it when my brides are willing to have fun with whatever the weather may bring!

It was supposed to storm all evening at my July 1st bride's wedding, and there ended up not being any at all!

The weather forecast for next Saturday is not at all accurate. Plus, rain is good luck on your wedding day!

I did the same thing, checked like 10 days out. Said it was supposed to be hot and rain all day, not good for my outdoor wedding! Day of 81 and sunny low humidity was perfect!

The week of my wedding it rained every day and most of the day before all the way up until 2 hrs before the rehearsal. Didn't rain till the Sunday after our wedding was done. My parents went to a wedding where it rained the whole time until the time the girls started walking down the aisle, it completely stopped raining when the Bride walked and was beautiful the rest of the time.

Don't worry about it. All that matters is that you are married to your best friend at the end of the day.

Here it can change from thunderstorms to sunshine in 15 minutes.

I had a beach elopement the other evening. It was overcast most of the day, but the sun came out in time for the ceremony and they had a beautiful sunset.

We had pouring rain on our wedding day. You can't control it, you just have to have a good backup plan. We had our ceremony inside instead of outside. I got umbrellas to try to do a cool photo that was inspired by pinterest- it failed because it was raining way too hard for that. But we did get this one, which is my favorite.

ETA: It doesn't have to be your worst nightmare, by the way. Most people were telling us that rain on your wedding day is supposed to be good luck.

I really wouldn't rely on the forecast, especially this far out. It keeps saying there is a 40% chance of rain almost every day this month, and lo and behold nothing on most days. My parents always said that being a meteorologist is the best job, because you can always be wrong and still get paid a good salary. lol

@Brittany my high school history teacher said the same thing one time in class. The weather must have been way off that day or something.

    @Jacqui what a cute photo!!

I agree with PPs that the weather is not very reliable and not to worry about it. It's one of the things you have no control over so prepare for the "worst" and hope for the best.

At the end of the day you'll be married and you never know you could end up with a wicked cute photo like Jacqui!

@Jacqui - I just checked the forecast, and it says 50% for today. There is literally nothing on the radar. haha

I checked twice a day for the 3 days prior to my wedding and it changed 17 times. Ultimately it was cloudy and the sun came out as the reception ended. DH told me the next day that it was sprinkling about 30 minutes before the ceremony and I never knew.

We had a tent in case of rain covering some of the reception area (we would have needed it if it was sunny anyway). Have a backup plan and hope you don't need to use it, but don't bother checking the weather this far out!

Mine said rain too and it didn't rain. I checked that thing every day like a hawk for a month too. Still didn't rain.

I agree, don't stress about rain just yet. It can change 10 times between now and then!

I didn't have rain on my wedding (with my luck I will!) but I did have a monsoon for my outdoor e-pics. My suggestion is to embrace the rain. My photographer did some great tricks with lighting to really enhance the photos. Of all my e-pics, the ones with the rain are my favorite.

ETA: Oh and have rain boots and a clear umbrella on standby just in case!

I know its frustrating to have the weather not cooperate but like other posters say weather is unreliable, so things may just turn around just in time for your perfect day. Dont let a little rain put a damper on.

FIY... I'm from the Dominican Republic and for us it is a sign of good fortune when it rains on your wedding day. hope this cheers you up
