Wedding Videography Worth It?

Kelly, on October 11, 2018 at 3:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

Can anybody tell me whether or not they think it is worth spending extra money on a videographer? Our photographer ended up costing us much less than we expected but it's still not as if we're swimming in money over here Smiley winking

Are you getting one or do you know people who regret not having a videographer?

Any tips and how much did you spend on yours?

Thanks!

We’re spending $690 for 2 videographers just for our ceremony. Originally didn’t want to spend the money, but I felt like I’d regret it. Money can always be made, but you can’t redo your wedding. I definitely think for me personally I was much more likely to regret not having the video, than to regret spending a little extra money!

If you can fit it into your budget do it! You will be so bust before you know the night is over you wont be able to capture much. If you hire some one to at least capture the ceremony and first dance you can sit back and watch later. First research and checkout all reviews pick at least 2 interview, let them know what your vision is. Once you find your match negotiate a price and book.

I also didn’t feel it was necessary to have a videographer there for the reception, I just wanted it for the ceremony!

We hired a videographer for 2 hours. They will come film us taking photos, last minute getting ready touch-ups, the ceremony, and then family photos afterwards. We couldn't afford one for a whole day but I'm so so so glad we will have one for the wedding ceremony since that's the most important part of the day! They will edit together a highlight video for us as well.

I did not have a videographer and do not regret it one bit. It was more important for me to get an awesome photographer and to supply a very high end experience for my guests. 2 years later and I'm still good with the decision Smiley smile

The main reasons I'm considering getting one is

    1. Because the day goes by fast and I want to be able to see other aspects of it

    2. Because time goes by so fast in general and I think I may want to be able to look back at it someday and see actual video of me, my fiance and family members (especially grandparents) during this time of our lives!

It's just hard because the videographers with the style I like are the most expensive (of course!)

It's definitely worth it because the day goes by so fast and you don't get to see the wedding from your guests' perspective unless you watch the video. For my first wedding I didn't get it and I regretted it so for this wedding I made sure to get it. I found a company that offered a combo package of videography and photo booth that cost around $1500 total. I had the videographer for 9 hours and it included an 8 minute highlights video and 2 hours raw footage. I got dvds and usb. I also got to choose the music for the videos.

Most people will say it's worth it but I feel like it's about if it fits in your budget or not. It's sooo expensive, I'm pretty sure we are gonna go without,

I'd definitely say do it for the first look (if you have one) and ceremony, the entire day isn't necessary. We had H's SIL officiate and our niece and nephew played violins during our ceremony so it was important to have that on video. I love that I can hear H on our video sniffling as he tries not to cry. Those are things photos won't capture.

I say yes! I love wedding videos, they are so amazing to have. If you can afford it, I'd do it. The ONLY wedding advice we have been given is "I wish we got a videographer". We are paying $2,500 for ours.

One of places I am really splurging is on the videographers. The venue is gorgeous, the party will be fun, the groom and best man are arriving by boat (which I otherwise won't get to see) and I want it all documented. Two videographers and a drone for 9 hours. Lol

Well i was one who wasn't going to get a videographer and three weeks before my wedding as a direct result of all the feedback on WeddingWire, I did hire one for the ceremony and ..... I AM SO GLAD I DID! My husband is very glad too. It's money very well spent in my opinion ($750 for me). The day goes by in a flash and having that video to watch and re-live the day is priceless.

It was a must for me. To be honest i didn't need a super skilled videographer but i definitely wanted the moment captured by a reputable company. So i didn't choose anyone too expensive but i just limited the hours they needed to capture. I still have videos of me as a child so i love to look back at what i've missed and years from now show footage of my family members and show my grand kids and so on. Pictures don't allow me to re-live the moment like video. I do hear that brides/grooms not getting a videography is one of the most regrettable things. I say it depends how much you value video, some do not so its not worth it to them. Consider your budget and keep looking for someone in that budget. The video is all that matters really so if that helps you find another style that works for you maybe you can have them tailor it to your budget.

My FH really wanted one, but I didn't want to spend the money on it. We are actually using something called WeddingMix, which is a camera rental and app, where guests can take photos and videos on their cameras and phones and send them to us! Then a group of professional editors will assemble our wedding video. It's costing us $500, but that's not the lowest package! You could give that a try!

I am getting one for sure. To me your friends and family will take oodles and oodles of pics but the video aspect you can never get back. I found one for $30 a hour. $150 ..can't beat it!

It was important to me (FH didn't care either way). But our photographer wasn't cheap and every videographer I looked into would have been an additional $3000 (!). I didn't want one that bad! Lol

What I do want is someone to capture the ceremony and some of the reception. I found a kid on Instagram in the area (he is still in high school) who is going to do it for $500. He has done a few and has a You-Tube channel. I like his vibe. For us, that was worth it.

We hired a photographer who's package included 2 photographers and 1 videographer. At first, I hadn't given it much thought, other than loving the idea of a highlight reel. But now that we have all of the footage I think that I would have been really sad if I didn't! It's truly magical being able to watch everything--between our photos and our video, they were able to capture so many moments that I would have never seen. Some things I think it's not worth splurging on, but this is one item I believe is worth every penny.
