Wedding Timeline - please Help!

Charlotte, on January 16, 2020 at 12:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
My makeup artist just messaged me asking when I can get my makeup done with her and now I'm stressing about my wedding timeline.

Our venue is 1.5hrs away from us. We're able to check in at 11AM. My only trouble is my makeup artist will not be coming to me. I'll have to go to her and then go to the venue.
We're thinking of a 4:30 start time and we do want a first look. My makeup artist messaged me asking to do a 1pm and that will not work...

I would find a different makeup artist if you want to be at the venue at 11 am. That means being finished with makeup by 9:15-9:30 am for a 4:30 pm ceremony. No matter how great the makeup artist is, your makeup is going to look at least slightly worn within 7 hours.

So you will be at home, go to your makeup artist, then the 1.5 hour drive to the venue? Or stay close to the venue, 1.5 hour drive to makeup artist, then 1.5 back to the venue? That makes a huge difference haha.

When are you doing your hair? Before or after you get to the venue at 11am? How much setting up time do you need at 11?

Assuming you would get your makeup done then go to the venue, also assuming you personally don't need to help with any set up... this is what I would do. I like to think backwards

    4:30 wedding begins

4 pm start lining up, relax until ceremony

    3:30 bridal party pictures

    3:00 family pictures

    2:30 first look

    2 get dressed

1 get hair done (at venue)

    12:30ish arrive at venue

    11 leave for venue

    10 get makeup done

This timeline also assumes that you would do all bridal party and family pictures before the ceremony. If you're not doing that, then you can move some stuff back!

Hopefully that helps you a little!

Hey there, Charlotte. Michaela really thought this through and provided a great timeline of events. Will this work for you?
