Wedding Timeline (no dance)

RY, on January 18, 2021 at 6:17 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8

Hello everyone,

I'm a bride for fall 2021 and I'm just starting to plan for the wedding - so I don't know much of what I'm doing haha

I realized it's best to come up with a general timeline so that it's easier to book vendors when knowing how long to need them (like photographers & their hours).

We are doing a first look, but I'll start the timeline from the ceremony (please note, this might not look right as I'm new to all this):

4:30pm - 5:00pm // Ceremony (includes: service, vows, rings, unity ceremony, special song)

5:00pm - 6:00pm // Mocktail hour; Newlywed & family+friends portraits

6:00pm - 6:15pm // Guest seated for dinner

6:15pm - 6:30pm // First dance, father+daughter dance, mother+son dance, welcome & prayer

6:30pm // Dinner

7:15pm // Toast by Best Man

7:20pm // Toast by MOH

7:25pm // cake cutting

7:30pm // bouquet toss

7:35pm - 7:50pm // Sparkler Shot

7:50pm - 9:00pm // mingle; ice cream truck / photobooth

10pm // thank you by couple

end

Any constructive criticism or advice is much appreciated!

Thank you.

I think this is great!! You are smart to have 15 minutes allotted for guests finding seats because it typically does take that long. With the photographer, we worked backyards to ensure she was there till the end (meaning if you have 10 hours of their time, yours should arrive by noon).

Just a general note that happened to me, the photographer was originally going to come to the hair salon for pics but due to covid, we couldn’t have extra people in the salon. We did getting ready pics in the hotel room only.
Hope this helps ❤️ Love the ice cream truck idea!!!

So we actually did the reverse. Our vendors were all super helpful in helping to create our timeline. A lot of it was dictated by our venue since they had a set time for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

Our venders helped us create our timeline, especially the photographer. He asked when the ceremony is supposed to start & he just ran with it which was extremely helpful since we had no idea.

Our vendors developed our timeline for us. Yours looks good, and is definitely worth showing to your vendors, but I would let them set the final timeline.

    Thank you!

I'm hoping to end the photography/videography by the Sparkler Shot 8pm. After that, it's not really needed since most the ceremonial things are out of the way (even the cake cutting & bouquet toss is something a family or friend can record just for memories sake, but we're thinking of just including since its right after toasts which is something I want to capture). Our getting location would be at the venue including ceremony & reception. Would 6 hours be too tight?

I think it's because the photographers/videographers tend to give us package options and even increasing hours a la carte or upgrading packages seem to cost more $$$ than what we have budgeted for. Which is why I hoped to ask for X hours of coverage and see where the price lands. I also feel like working out a timeline with one vendor would not work for the other. So I wanted to set a timeline everyone could expect. Of course, I would definitely receive feedback and edit the timeline to fit their needs as well.

With no dance, your reception will be 2-3 hrs max including whatever refreshments you have. People mingle when there is no dancing and still be still be done while social distancing.

Try to get as many photos taken as you can before the ceremony so you have more time to spend with guests.
