Wedding Stress Eating

Amy, on May 23, 2012 at 4:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

I have about a month to go and all of a sudden I can't stop eating Starburst, I'm going through a bag a week! I've heard about pregnancy cravings but does anybody else have wedding stress cravings???

I think I have been had that forever and a day. One minute I'm doing good and the next I'm eating everything. I think its just stress period.

Stress... I've been doing it too. Building a house and planning a wedding while working isn't going well for my stress level. For me I find it's a chewing thing so I try to always have gum with me. I'm not hungry, I just want to consume something. Gum works for me and then copious amounts of alcohol at the end of the day.

I am on the last 2 weeks before the wedding diet but not overeating... I would guess its stress. You can control it just do something else when you want the candy...

I have always heard of the "divorce diet" where you are stressed, nervouse, having to start a new life in the dating world and so on. Its sad news but ALL but 1 friends I have that got married are now divorced... and I am 29 years old...

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one going crazy eating. I had to join myfitnesspal.com and record everything I put in my mouth lately or I wont fit in my wedding dress.

Stress is a bicsh! You could always try keeping some oranges, grapes, strawberries ect on hand. See if those sweet fruits can help keep you from constantly wanting the candy...goodluck!

@kimberly: I didn't think there were any of me anywhere else in the world... i TOO and buying and practically rebuilding a new house and moving in one month before my destination wedding. how are you coping with all of the stress? i have two full time corporate positions with the same company, and I travel for them extensively... between all of that and my family birthing FIVE babies in the past month I am completely spent. I was diagnosed with shingles and have been out from work for nrealy three weeks. I am going completely nuts love! what do you do to help keep all of it under control?

    I totally stress eat!!!

I agree with Kimberly-gum does the trick for me when I'm craving something I'll regret later. I've also found that the more sugar I consume, the more I crave...so I have tried to cut it out as much as I can and make sure I'm getting healthy protien, a good fat, and some fruit and veggies with each meal/snack as I find it helps a bit to stave off those darn cravings.

    Good luck!!!

I thought I would eat more out of stress, but every time I think of buying chocolate or chips, I just think, "that's two dollars I could be spending on the wedding," or "that's a pound I could keep off so that I look good in my dress, photos for a lifetime, and a bikini on the honeymoon". It really is pretty good incentive! Try drinking flavored water. Curbs the appetite a little. Watermelon is great too! Practically no calories!

Thanks, everybody!! Chewing gum definitely does help and I really have to stop buying candy....why is it always on sale???

I have been doing weight watchers online for a little over a year and when I stop keeping a log of my food/points I tend to start gaining again - I just need one more month of discipline!

OMG Michelle! You have it way worse! At least I don't have any kids bugging me. I drink a lot of wine and go to pilates 3 days a week (or at least I try to). My days are spent running between meetings and making decisions. FH has finally figured out that he can't ask me any questions at night. I can't handle any more questions! And when I have a free 1/2 hour I kill it on the forums.

I hope you get your Shingles under control soon, I remember when my mom had shingles, she was miserable. It's brought on by stress though, so I can see how it happened. I would be completely lost without Google & my smart phone. And I have a wedding bag and a house bag in my car at all times with measurements, colors, samples, pens, paper, tape measure and vendor business cards. I wish I had an Ipad though, that would take my organization to a whole other level!
