Wedding shower

It’s considered very inappropriate to host your own shower as it’s considered self serving and gift grabby. Likewise virtual showers can feel like a shake down for gifts. If everyone lives far away, and no one offers to host people will likely just spend more on a wedding gift. Showers are optional and hosting one is voluntary. It doesn’t always work out.

I went to a zoom shower at the start of covid. it was interesting but everyone made the best of it. The host was the bride s sister and she delivered or mailed care packages to all the guests there was a tumbler to do a toast with, a bingo card and a few other game cards ,some fun heart shaped sunglasses, wild flower seeds as a favor to plant , and the bride and grooms favorite sweet and salty snack to snack on in each box. Gifts were sent directly to the bride and she opened everything on camera. Everyone had a drink of choice and snacks, games were played and laughs were shared. Was it perfect no but during a difficult time it worked.

Usually you don't host your own shower. Doing it virtually would really seem like a gift grab. I think it might look rude, sorry to say.

Hi Jamie! You can definitely do a virtual bridal shower!! I've been to a few virtual baby showers, and it's definitely a great option when travel is hard or expensive for everyone!

My top tips would be to keep the guest list small so it's manageable, and to have someone from your wedding party (or a family member) be the host. The host can make sure everyone gets to talk, help direct the shower, and lead games!

By definition, that's what a shower is. It's to "shower" the wedding couple with gifts.

Showers are gift giving events. There is no getting around that. It’s also inappropriate to host your own for that reason, including inviting people who are not invited to the wedding. Unless someone offers to host one for you, you skip the shower. Zoom showers fall into the category of coming across as a gift grab.

If you’re throwing yourself a shower then by definition you’re asking for presents.
