Wedding rings - who buys?

Amy, on March 1, 2017 at 8:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 35

When purchases wedding bands, do you buy them together, or do you pay for each other's ring, as a wedding present. Thanks in advance.

I think that's up to you and your FS.

FH and I are paying for them both together.

He bought mine (engagement ring and wedding band) & I am buying his.

There is no rule per say, each couple does it as they see fit.

We bought ours together, it was a fun experience. We wanted to each pick out our own since we'll be wearing the rings forever.

It's really up to you two! We went and picked ours out together. We also paid for ours together, but we also have a joint account so that's why.

I bought his and he bought mine, but I don't think there's a particular custom as to who buys them.

We are sharing the cost of ours. We kind of share the cost of everything anyways already since we live together and have for awhile. We have already put the deposit down on mine, now we just need to get his taken care of.

FH's mom is purchasing our bands as a wedding present. She prefers and requested that she purchase these as opposed to another gift because she wanted us to remember her present forever.

We haven't gotten outs yet, but we plan on going together. We'll probably just pay together too.

We have joint accounts ... so it just can't out of the one account.

Not sure if there is a traditional way

By the time we were planning our wedding, the checking account was a joint account. He worked F/T and I worked F/T. Both checks went into our joint checking account. From that point on, the checking account was funded by "the team", and the team was comprised of the both of us. It's absolutely exhausting to try and keep track of "you pay for this" and "I'll pay for that". If you want to keep a savings account of your own, go for it.
