Wedding rings - who buys?

When purchases wedding bands, do you buy them together, or do you pay for each other's ring, as a wedding present. Thanks in advance.

Technically, he paid for the rings. We were getting married and "becoming one" anyways, so it didn't make sense for us to split the bill.

FH is buying both ours. My engagement ring was free (family heirloom), so he decided to pay for both.

FH and I have a joint account for the wedding and we're using that to pay for them. He's been contributing more to the account because he makes more money, so I guess if we're getting technical he paid for them. But it all comes out in the wash. There's no right way to do it, to be honest.

It depends on your relationship, I think. FH bought mine at the same time he bought my engagement ring, I'm buying his.

We split the costs since we're going to end up with a joint account

We bought ours together - but they were also the same price so really we just joke that we bought them for each other. He bought my engagement ring though.

Originally FH wanted to buy both of ours himself, but I didn't want him paying for them by himself. He bought my e-ring and band and I bought his band.

I’m so glad I found this thread! I went by myself today to look and pick out a band that matched my engagement ring. I went to the local jeweler that the engagement ring was from. My fiancé isn’t planning on spending much and will likely just get a silicon ring or something on the low end of the budget (not from the jeweler).
The woman at the jeweler would NOT sell me a wedding band for me... she was insisting that my fiancé should be there to pick it out together (and also pick out a ring for himself...). It may not be traditional to pick out a wedding band for yourself... but being told that you can’t really kills the special moment.
I’m happy to know i’m not the only one shopping and picking out a wedding band from our shared wedding savings as a couple.
