Wedding ring suggestions?

Katelyn, on December 3, 2019 at 11:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Hello al! My mother recently offered to let me have my great grandmothers wedding band for my own. I was very close with her so the gesture really means a lot to me. The only problem is my engagement ring has a twist in its shape which makes it sit kind of awkwardly when I have them together. I took it to Jared’s where we got my ring. The girl who had originally sold us mine no longer worked there and so a different woman helped us. She said there was nothing they could do to it to make it match up better, then directly showed us some bands they had. I thought I’d ask on here if anyone had had work done similarly for a ring? I kind of felt like that answer might not have been the most honest because she pushed really quick for that sale.

    What a great gesture!

I would try to putting the band on first then the engagement right. Changes the look completely and traditionally the band is worn "closer to the heart"

I agree with Ingrid, I think it would look better with the wedding band on first. You can tell they weren’t made as a set, but I do think they look good together!

    That’s so sweet!!!

Is it the slight gap you’re worried about? I think if it’s really bothering you could get a separate band to wear with your e-ring, and then days you only want to wear your grandmas wedding band wear it separately?

I think they look fine together. I would go to an independent jeweler if you want another opinion though. The chain stores may give you cheaper options (in both price and quality), but they hate to customize things and only look for the sale.

That is so special. What a wonderful gift to receive.

I agree with Ingrid, have you tried it on the band first? Do you have a picture of it that way?

I think if you switch them it will look great. They go well together even with not matching. Another idea is to wear your grandmothers on a necklace and get one that matches your e-ring

Other ladies have already given some great suggestions. I don't think there's anything they can do to make them match up better short of melting the metal down and reshaping it into something that has the same curve. You can also solder them together and maybe add extra gold to fill in the gaps, but I don't know how nice that would look. Plus, they would be permanently fused together, which limits future options with the rings.

You can also wear your engagement ring on the opposite hand as another option. I think the rings look nice together, but I definitely understand being bothered by gaps between them.

I think it looks like a beautiful pair. I wouldn’t really be able to tell from the pictures that they weren’t made as a set. I think I would personally rather wear her ring than buy a new one with no sentiment

I agree with Alejandra they look really nice together. Think about it is all about what people may think when they see it Oh her ring don’t go or the meaning behind it and the relationship you had with your Gma🤔🤔🤔

I think its really cute. Maybe the band first then the e-ring. If its too much then I would say buy a small wedding ring to add to it or wear your grandmothers on the other hand Smiley smile

I agree. Go to an independent jeweler, not just a jewelry store. S/he can probably come up with a solution that you'll like.

A private, family owned jeweler can do anything your budget allows. Chain store employees are probably not going to have the same experience to give options or ideas as they only want yo sell what they have in the store. Good luck! Your tings are beautiful

Both rings are gorgeous. I, actually, think they look good together. If you look at a lot of contemporary sets, very often the band doesn’t sit flatly against the ring. I agree with the others: you should put the band in the inside.
