Wedding ring dilemma

Selena, on February 19, 2019 at 11:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 31
I have a beautiful engagement ring, but I can't wear a straight ring, and I hate curved bands. I thought I might get something beautiful to wear on my right hand... But FH doesn't like that idea. I have no idea what to do.... The littlest things are going to be the death of me.

I didn’t want a curved band either, but I needed one for my ering. I found this at Kays. It has a slight curve to it, but the way it’s designed with the straight bottom, it doesn’t look curved when it’s on.
I love my ring and I’ve seen several people on here that have it too, so it works with a variety of ring types.

I did try one on like this. It was the least offensive curved band. But very different style wise from my intricate vintage ring.

I'm wearing mynengagement ring on my right hand and band on my left. I tried to put them both on the same finger and it felt real weird. It was crowded.

You might be able to find the band that matches your ring unless it was custom made and then you'll need to get the band custom made. The band would have the same curvature so they would fit together.

My FH didn't get a set and I don't plan on wearing more than one ring on the finger so what we did was we got a plain band off of Wish.com for the day of the ceremony and that will play the part of my "Wedding band" but it will only be for one day.

I'm not a 100% sold that you can't wear a straight wedding band with your ring, if that is what you really want. Maybe you just haven't found the "right one" yet. Here are some google images I got to sort of show how it would look:

Go to an independent local jeweler and discuss what you want. A custom ring probably costs less than you think.

I am in the same situation that you are. Can’t seem to find one that I like that will work. I don’t want to draw away from my ering. im going to follow this thread to see what you do! Good luck!

I can sympathize because straight bands did not look right with my e-ring because of the way it arcs up to the center diamond. Plus it also hid my "peek a boos" from the side profile. I NEVER thought of curved bands until my jeweler suggested them and that is what I ended up with. Have you actually tried on a curved band with your e-ring, or are you just against the thought of them? There are SO MANY VARIATIONS of curved bands, some coming to a very sharp point, or having a weird shape to them, etc. I really think it is a matter of finding one that works (that can go either way-straight or curved band) Not sure on your budget but you could consider having a custom band made? Or you don't actually have to wear a band at all! Anything goes these days. Here is what I ended up with!

I ended up going custom to create a band that is straight on one edge and has a dip to accommodate my e-ring on the other — so when I’m wearing them as a set, it doesn’t look curved and sits snug with my e-ring. It perfectly solved the same issue I had. The only catch is, if I’m wanting to wear only the band, it’s a bit funky looking, so I usually spin it around so the dip is on the inside of my finger . Here you can see the dip, and how they fit together

I agree! Especially with inspo 2 and 3!

Given that your ring is so intricate and has the diamonds on the side (I think) I would go to a local jeweler and discuss.

My ring isn't near as intricate as your, but I have diamonds on the crown and the crown makes the band not a flush fit. So I just went for a "mismatched" eternity band:

I know you didn't want curved, but what about an "enhancer"?

I have similar issue with my ring. I went back to people who made my ring and found a band to go with. I lose the underside detail on my side but it's still visible from the front. You just have to stick with the search. You'll find it and you'll know!

I would go to a local jeweler to discuss. I was not prepared for our local jewelry shops to be able to do anything impressive, yet that is where we ended up getting both of our rings custom made.

What about a very small, thin white gold band? Something hardly noticeable, that won't take away from your amazing ring?

I know exactly how you feel! For the longest time I dreamed of my rings being from the same bridal set so they could look perfect together. However, finding a set I loved was very challenging. FH & I decided on custom made e-ring and wedding band for me because it was the only way I would be happy and satisfied with my rings. Something about a curved wedding band doesn’t sit well with me because it isn’t ideal or perfect on its own. The one I got leaves a little gap with my e-ring on top which I hated myself for at first but it grew on me and I am obsessed with both of them now!

I love this combo! It looks so good together. Are the diamonds in the band baguettes or emerald cut?

To the OP, I’m not a huge fan of curved bands either mainly because they look weird when worn alone. I agree with PPs that maybe you should try a straight band just to see how it looks. Some of those inspo pics are beautiful.

I couldn’t get a straight band to fit right either. I ended up going with a curved enhancer. Not what I expected to like but worked better and complimented to the ring very well
