Wedding Planning While Sheltered-in-place?

Izzy, on April 1, 2020 at 5:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
So my FH and I just got engaged a little over two weeks ago and we are have been been floating on Cloud 9! Our aim was the start planning right away, but with the way the world is going right now our plans were put on hold. Even our engagement party has had to be delayed Smiley sad But as far as the wedding, is there anything we can/should be planning now ahead of time so that when things go back to normal and we’re allowed to freely leave our homes we’ll have a head start?

Congratulations! i think a lot of venues have been switching to online tours? so maybe you can at least take a glance at venues you'd even want to tour in person when the shelter in place has been lifted.

I would use this time to start researching venues and other vendors. There's a lot of info you can get online. Weddingwire has tons of info. When we first got engaged I did a lot of research before we started touring venues (not just venues, but several kinds of vendors in our area). That really helped me set a realistic total budget for the style of wedding we wanted, and it let us rule some things out before visiting in person.

I would get in contact with vendors ASAP! Many wedding vendors book out more than a year in advance. We booked our venue a year and half out and took the last Saturday they had available all summer/fall!

You definitely want to secure a venue as early as possible. Such vendors typically book a year or more in advance. And right now, they may be doing more than that, because they are having to reschedule so many weddings originally scheduled for the next few months.

This October? If so, you should really look at venues ASAP. Larger/more popular venues fill up their calendar month (if not a year) in advance.
I would suggest getting your Pinterest Board ideas together and solidifying what vendors are important. Set a firm budget and start researching. Don’t settle for the first thing you see. My sister learned this the hard way. I’m learning now from her planning successes and failures.
