Wedding Planning and Covid-19

Heather, on March 31, 2020 at 8:09 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

Things have progressed quickly with COVID and my FMIL is pressuring us almost daily to post pone the wedding and move it to next November (2021) but we're unsure since it is months away. Is anyone else that is having a fall/winter wedding thinking about this/stressing about this already? Let me hear your thoughts on this!

I wouldn’t be concerned about a November wedding at this point.

I would wait a few months. If it relieves anxiety, you can discuss with your vendors and get an idea of moving, but I think you'll be ok.

I just postponed my 3/27/2020 wedding to 11/20/2020, so I wouldn't make any drastic decisions to postpone to 2021 just yet. I'd say if everything is already booked, continue as planned (bc it's 8 months away still) but just make sure you re-read your contracts and ask your vendors what your options for a potential plan B might look like (just to do your own due diligence so you're prepared and less stressed and your FMIL is less stressed). Usually just knowing your options will help put you at ease, but I wouldn't worry yet!

As of right now I wouldn’t be concerned about a November 2020 wedding. There’s still plenty of time for planning and more than enough room for this virus to pan out.

We aren’t even considering moving our November wedding yet. I did, however, read through our contracts and emailed our vendors just to make sure we would be able to postpone, just in case!

I think you’ll be ok with a November date. My only concern for fall weddings is the financial situation that guests may be in after this is all said and done. That could have some affect on your guests being able to attend or not, but I’d think for the most important people they would find a way to make it happen.

    Hi Heather,

I agree with the comments above. But also, I wish your FMIL would relax on pressuring you to make a decision about November right now.
