Wedding planner/designer ? Yes or no?

Becky, on November 3, 2019 at 9:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
I am having a hard time deciding If I should or shouldn’t hire one. My friends and mother in la say no. But I really want one to help make it easier on me and help making decisions.

For me it was completely worth it. I was never a girl who had her wedding planned out and really needed help with choosing everything. So I hired a full service planner. It’s not cheap though so if you’re on a tight budget it’s probably not the best idea.

Look into it before you decide!

Higher a planner for the entire wedding is super expensive! So check to see if it's in your budget. It's super worth it if it is but keep in mind wedding costs add up.

Most of us usually hire a day of coordinator or in my case I hired a coordinator for the last 6 weeks and am planning the rest myself.

    Hope this helps!

Wedding planner was the best money I spent. I would absolutely recommend one if you can find room in your budget!

That's how I feel, I am researching and have met with a few already and to me it's not a ridiculous charge. It is something I would pay for and not ask the parents to pay for.

My mother in law really wants to help plan and do it all for me, but I feel like I would be afraid to say no to her.

I hired a DOC and am also using her for her design and floral services. So I'm still doing all the big decision stuff with other vendors but she sat down with us to go through ideas for centerpieces and some other reception decor and is going to help pull all that stuff together. I am so glad I've hired her already because before that my FH and I were struggling with decor ideas and weren't sure how to go about executing what little ideas we did have

We didn't hire one, I planned everything & we didn't have the budget for another $5,000+ for decorator/planner. If we had more money in the budget, I probably would have hired one.

I've gotten my venue and quite a few vendors on my own already so there's not TOO much to do but I definitely need someone to help me figure out the design set up. In that case, I'm only looking for a partial planner. After stressing out over how much most planners are, I actually found a partial planner for $1900 including everything I told him I needed help with and a few other important things on top of that.

I agree with Neeva, definitely look into it before deciding. I searched and searched! Another partial planner quoted me at $5200 and I damn near pissed myself. The planner I found for $1900, I found on Thumbtack. I also found my engagement photographer on Thumtack as well. You can check for planners here on wedding wire or you can also check Thumbtack for your local planners or wherever you're getting married in.

Only you and FH can make the decisions, as it's your wedding. A planner can be useful in narrowing down your choices--especially if you are an indecisive sort of person, and have trouble with too many choices.

However, in my area, a full-service wedding planner can cost as much or more than my whole budget! So, for that reason, I'm not hiring one. Way too expensive.

I have given myself enough time to research and save for everything I want, so it's really unnecessary for me.
