Wedding planner? Yay or nay?

I hired a day of coordinator to manage the day of so I wouldn't have to get involved in things. My DJ is taking care of the mc part from what I remember from the contract.

I also hired a Day of Coordinator. The DJ normally takes care of MCing, the DOC for me will help set up, tear down, coordinate between all vendors and make sure that we are on time for everything. I wanted peace of mind during the actual day and so that my family/friends didn't have to help set up anything. A full on planner is useful if you want someone to plan from start to finish.

I did everything bc I was on my last dime, but it was stressful and a struggle and I wouldn’t recommend it. I would get a day of coordinator at least. My dj was the mc.

I was planning on doing everything on my own too. I am doing all the planning though because I love it so much. I wanted to do the decor setup myself or have my mom help because a DOC can be expensive still. After a lot of research I found one with great reviews and much cheaper because she's still new to the scene. So I just decided I could save a little bit more money and be able to afford having someone there the day of, I think it will make it a lot easier for me to relax

Yes that was my concern..putting it in my budget. I am going to try to look into someone that is newer like you did. After hearing you guys talk about it I am opening up to it a little more. I want to really enjoy the moment and if that takes away some of the stress I am all for it.

We have a wedding coordinator but our band will be acting as the MC during the reception. Most DJs include that as well!

How did you find a wedding coordinator? Was it a recommendation from your venue?

View Quoted Comment My coordinator was actually the first person I hired before I ever had a venue. I found her through reviews on wedding wire & the knot. The venue I was looking into also had her name listed as one of their preferred coordinators. Since we are having a destination wedding she was super helpful with venue & catering suggestions and ideas so we could make decisions without needing to see the venue first!

Not only would I never pay anyone to plan my wedding, I wouldn't want anyone else planning my big day! If you have the money and don't want to do the work, a wedding planner is for you, just 10000% not my style

I hired a DOC and our DJ will be MC. I planned everything myself but there just won't be enough time to coordinate everything myself.
