Wedding planner response time

Hello,

I’m getting married in Italy this September and it will be a small gathering.

When I hired my planner mid February she was super quick to get back to me (within a day), but now that wedding season has started she’s taking her sweet long time to answer my emails (around a week). I know that there’s still time and that she probably has more urgent matters (i.e. this weekend’s wedding) to take care of, but I’m getting a little anxious here. Still need to get flowers, photographer, and other things - and at this speed it seems like the process is never ending!

Is this normal? Am I overreacting?

    That would have made me pretty nervous too. Maybe just flat-out tell her that the wait times are making you anxious and ask if there's a better way to get in touch with her?

    I'm having the same problem with mine for my October wedding. Luckily I've been able to just go ahead and book vendors myself but I'm at the point where if I can find someone else, I am going to terminate our contract. I sent an email a month ago stating my issues/lack of communication and nothing has changed.

    Hmmm. This is tough and weddings are stressful. If you have requested/paid for a service than I personally feel, you at all time should know that you matter and they appreciate your business. Regardless to anything else that is going on.
    That is their job to help you and you see you to the end.
    However if you feel that you can move quicker on your own that would be my suggestion. This forum has a lot of sorting/ filtering options to hopefully find you the people and things you need to make your wedding a success.

    Plus planning on your own you may be able to save money

    From my experience visiting Italy, everything usually runs in slow motion (minus the crazy driving).

    Does she have an assistant you can contact? If not, id write her an email or call stating that you urgently need an update on whats been taken care of.

    Thank you aprilv! The thing is that when I started working with her, the response time was never over than 24 hours. I guess that if it had always been slow, I wouldn't be worried. I will definitely call her.

    Yes, I had to start moving on my own, but it's complicated since we're talking about finding vendors in a different country - where I don't know anyone. It defeats the purpose of having paid a wedding planner :/

    I’m in the beginning stages of planning and have heard a variety of stories akin to this one... trying to decide now if I even want a planner 🤦🏾‍♀️
