Wedding Planner Pregnant

Tamara, on October 30, 2018 at 10:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hello All,

This is my first post, so thanks for reading. I just received an email from my wedding planner who I will meet and pay this Friday, that she is pregnant and due in June. We are set to be married in August of 2019. Should I continue with her services? I’ve never been married so not sure what I will need her to be physically present for a month or two before the wedding. Help!

If she has levels of packages (usually Full Wedding Planning, Month of, or Day of)... Don't go with Full because her attention will be focused on the baby during some critical wedding planing. Depending on how involved you want her to be may be how you determine whether or not she is a good fit. If you just want someone to help when all the chaos is happening (month, week, or day of) then I would consider her. Is the meeting costing you money? If not, maybe you should meet with her and discuss your concerns.

Maybe you would inquire about whether she'll have anyone assisting her during this time? If you're just looking for DOC services, it should be okay. If you need more than that, she should do the right thing and let you know she won't be able to provide those services.

I would ask her plans are for maternity leave, and how long she might be out. If she takes 12 full weeks then she could still possibly be out when your wedding occurs. Is it a wedding coordinating business with multiple planners? Then you just might get a different coordinator within that business.

I would just ask her with whatever you are concerned about. I'd ask how long she is taking for maternity leave, will she be accessible via email or phone call on maternity leave, does she have an assistant or backup if for some reason she can't make it, etc.

Thank you ladies for your replies. I was able to chat with her today and she will have an assistant, which makes me feel MUCH better. I think that since all the vendors should be identified and paid by the then all she/assistant will need to do is handle vendor communications via phone or email. She should be up and running for the day of so I think I am in good shape. I hope! Smiley winking
