Wedding planner expectations

Krystle, on September 14, 2018 at 12:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

Out of curiosity, when should I expect my wedding planner to really begin to focus on our wedding? The wedding is about two months out and we haven't thought to reach back out to planner. Should we already be doing this?

I hired my planner 11 months out and she’s had contact with me consistently from the beginning. Our wedding is in 6 weeks and I have had exchanged text or emails with her just about everyday for the last few weeks.

Is she a wedding planner or a DOC? This makes a difference. A planner should have been focused on your wedding from the first day while a DOC usually doesn't get involved until about a month out. Look at what your contract says and what you both agreed to.

When you hired your planner did your contract have a break down of what they were handling and how many meetings you would have? My planner had multiple packages based on how hands on you wanted her to be and how much communication. I went for her full service package.

Have you reached out to her and she is unresponsive? It also makes a difference if you got a DoC, MoS, or full out wedding planner. Contact her if you are concerned. Some of them do this so often, they can do it in their sleep, while for you it's a one-time thing. Relax and give her a call. Smiley smile

This depends on whether she's a planner, DOC, MOC, etc. I have a DOC and she won't contact me until 8 weeks out. If she's a DOC or MOC she probably won't reach out until 6-8 weeks out. Have you tried to reach her and she's been unresponsive?

Hey thanks! Everyone. It’s a planner not a DOC. We erred on the side of not being annoying but now realized maybe we let things go to long without trying to get back into contact. We don’t want to be screwed on rentals because we waited so long to contact. We weren’t sure when/if they contact us or we contact them, but seems like a call is in order if that’s when a DOC normally gets involved.
