I have just used free planning worksheets I found online, I think one was from Kennedy Blue, and the checklist on wedding wire. I didn’t want to waste money on stuff that was online for free if you did some looking.

I didnt purchase a book that you read but I did purchase a little notebook off of etsy from starboardpress. It has little tabs to help keep track of wedding planning. Helps me keep track of payments and gives me little checklists. Like WW but on paper!

I didn’t purchase a wedding planning book, but I did get a custom-made binder from Zazzle that reflects my wedding theme. I printed off wedding checklists online and filled the binder with them. I also got tab dividers to separate subjects such as venue, food/booze, budget, guest list, photography, videography, etc. etc. I keep all correspondence with my vendors in the appropriate tabs, as well as all signed contracts. It really helps to not have to search through emails. Making this binder and having all the information in one place has been such a huge help with planning!! I highly suggest it!

One of my bridesmaids purchased The Knot wedding planner book for me!

It has color samples that you can mix/match to figure out colors, lists of questions to ask venues/photographers/caterers/etc, an organizer to list out all your vendors and their contact information so it's all in the same place, etc.

I purchased The Knot's wedding planning binder. I spent a lot of money on my wedding and I can comfortably say that it was the biggest waste of the entire process lol. As PP mentioned, it has color swatches, pages for vendor contacts, advice, etc. Truly nothing that you can't find online and I probably didn't even look at 85% of the pages. I wound up emptying it out and printing my own contracts, copies of the timeline, etc. and just filling the binder with what I actually needed.

My mom bought me one but truthfully I haven’t used it. I’ve seen some really nice ones at Barnes and Noble, but they are set up for two year engagements mostly. Ours will be about a year.
The checklist on here was much more helpful as well as the guest list, seating chart, and vendor manager.

I did not purchase a wedding planner book; well let me rephrase that, I did but immediately returned it as I found it obsolete. What I did, was found the best lists and planning guides online and create my own planning book / checklist that was customized to our wedding. I can also tell you I used it the first three months of planning and it now sits on my shelf untouched. I now use the wedding planner checklist on WW website and customized that instead. Works so much better.

I agree with this 100%. I use the online checklist on The Knot way more than I use the book. The book is a good alternative if you prefer something in front of you that you can physically write on, scribble notes in, keep important information in one place, etc, but I agree that all of the information can be found free online. At the time my bridesmaid bought the book for me, I had already booked my venue and vendors, so I didn't really use the suggested questions to ask vendors. I love Caytlyn's idea of putting vendor contracts and other important documents in it though!

I found a couple of templates online and just meshed them together and then went to Walmart and bought a binder that was our colors and bought some tab dividers and I am doing it that way. It works better for us and turned out super cute!

I had bought one and started using it but then gradually stopped. I found I used WW's checklist way more and there's really not much note for me to take down in the book. For me, it was a waste of money.

I made my own. I was planning on purchasing one and looked into the MANY different options. After extensive research, I realized they are fairly expensive for something I could really do myself. My DIY planning notebook was very helpful and kept me organized and on track.

I agree with this entirely. I bought it, too, and it was useless. The color swatches are also on cardstock, so it's not even really helpful because most colors you'd need to see in flowers or linens. I've been using it to store my other stuff, but not any of what's in it.

I got this one an absolutely love it. It has a bunch of blank lined pages for notes, which was important to me so I had a spot to write down questions or ideas etc. A section for guest info with check boxes for rsvp and thank you cards. Theres a budget section with spreadsheets. Theres an attire section with pages for bride groom and wedding party. Theres pages with premade lists rings venue cake etc plus bunches of empty slots on the lists. Each section is separated with a cardboard folder page. The best part about this to me is it fits in my purse so its very convenient to bring wherever I need.

I purchased the Knot's wedding planning book and ended up throwing it away. There's a lot in there and the majority of it was irrelevant. I wouldn't waste your money-you can find everything you need on WeddingWire or even Thumbtack believe it or not. We found our officiant, caterer and bartender/server all on Thumbtack

I bought a binder and used free downloadable wedding planning sheets. Its a lot cheaper than a wedding planner book plus I can customize it to my wedding. Theres a lot of sheets available through pinterest!

I was gifted The Knot's Ultimate Wedding Planner and although it is nice and has a ton of ideas--I really found that a good app on my phone was a lot more convenient. I think it depends on the person you are, if you like to physically check of a list and cut out photos and swatches then a binder is for you. After a while I just didn't like carrying the binder everywhere when all I needed was in my phone. If you're looking for a binder--that one I found to have the absolute most detail!

I bought a regular notebook with a pretty cover to jot down notes, draft guest list, etc., and an expandable file holder. The notebook is easy to tods into my purse to take to meetings with vendors, etc., and the expandable file has different pockets to sort and hold contracts, menus, etc.

    We used the Knot's book.

Half of the reason I picked that one was because it had file folders to hold cards and paperwork, so you could keep all the physical stuff in one place.

It also had helpful prompt questions, timelines, and other things.

The thing with planning books, though, is that they've got to mesh with your brain. So... pick one that helps your brain keep track, not the "most popular" one.
