Wedding party size

Just curious about how big of a wedding party some of you are having or had? What is a good guideline?

Only you can decide, but keep in mind that everyone you add means more $$; gifts, rehearsal dinner, etc.

I've read you should have 1 for each side per 50 guests invited. We invited 130 and have 5 on each side, clearly I didn't follow this. It's really what you want, but you don't want a huge bridal party and not a ton of guests.

We have 1 MOH, I best man, flower girl and ring bearer. We didn;t have a guideline per se. I just did not feel like dealing with the headache of all of the extra people. All of my closest frineds live at least 2 hours, at the most 6 hours away. I couldnt take the pressure.. plus I didnt have the money to cover all of them for the things I should be covering. So I went with 1... almost didn't have any except the kids.

We had 60-70 at our wedding and 4 on each side. Seems a little 'heavy', now that I type it, but at the time it was perfect. Smiley sexy

This has been helpful. I have a MOH, a bridesmaid, a best man and I Man of Honor so to speak. We won't mention 2 flower girls and 2 twin ring bearers. I was worried I wouldn't have a big enough wedding party. My wedding is in Oct and I'm so stressed about it. Thanks for all your replies.

I don't understand the logic of having a ratio of guests to BP...

@Celia- I think it's more so it doesn't look unbalanced and so you have enough groomsmen to seat your guests? I'm not really sure, just a guess.

I'll either have four BM and four GM or six BM and six GM. Depends on if my sister wants to be one or not.

Two MoHs, two bridesmaids, a Best Man, and 3 GM, I haven't decided on flower girls/ ring bearers as of yet, because with this long till the wedding it's hard to gauge where kids will be by then

We have 100 guests and 1 MOH and 1 BM. It really doesn't matter. I just didn't feel like having an entourage at nearly 50 years old, so I picked the one person who has been there for me no matter what, and that being said, I can say the same about me for her, which is equally important. It's about who you love and care for, not about numbers.

It is really up to you there is no guideline.

As for myself, I have 3 BM and my FH has 3 GM. No others in the wedding party. I guess we are on the small side. Most of the pictures and things I've seen have 4 or 5 BM and GM (so 8 -10 in total).

    I have 1 MOH and 4 BMs

He has 1 BM and 4 GMs

We have 1 flower girl, my niece

I would only have three BMs, but...I have three brothers and wanted them all to be included as GM. FH's brother is his BM and his best friend is his GM. SO there was no changing the 5 men in the wedding party. My three best friends are my MOH and BMs and then I have my 2 SILs.

    1 maid of honor

    1 dude of honor

As far as we were concerned, that was the perfect size.
