Wedding Party Processional Song:

Ameselle, on September 16, 2015 at 11:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

So I'm spending way more time than necessary on this, but I can't help it! I'm stuck on a processional song for the wedding party. I will be walking down the aisle to "Sea of Love" by Cat Power (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjE9CoH9avs). I've got a few frontrunners in consideration for the bridal party's entrance:

"Colour My World" by Chicago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN-AyNsDtN0)

"Beginnings" by Chicago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI5aD6m7ub0)

"A Thousand Years" by The Piano Guys (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgaTQ5-XfMM)

I'm not too concerned with the length of the songs, as the DJ can fade out any time.

What do you guys think? Or do you suggest something that you think segues better into "Sea of Love"?

I knew I could depend on you guys!!

A thousand years is popular as a processional song.

A thousand years is a great choice, we decided to just let the wedding party walk down to canon in d.

Not to throw a wrench in your plans, but you asked for opinions, and if I hear A Thousand Years again I'm going to find the person that wrote it and slap them.

I hate to be the one person that disagrees especially cause I love the song but I can't help but roll my eyes when I hear it at weddings now. I've been to 4 weddings this year alone and I have it heard it at 3 for the processional. I get that the song has great lyrics and super pretty but I just can't. I did listen to all of the choices that you listed and I like the Color My World.

One of my favorite songs that I think makes a great processional (or recessional) is the Vitamin String Quartet version of Everlong by Foo Fighters. It's so pretty.

I love Cat Power - my FH totally said no to that song, but i'm using it for my bridal party to walk in.

we're seating grandma's to A Thousand Years (instrumental), and then I'm walking to the About Time Theme - it picks up tempo right as I'll turn the corner to walk down the aisle and it's so awesome.

A thousand years is soooo overdone, but some people don't care about that sort of thing. I walked by a random wedding in town a couple of weeks ago and they were playing that for the processional and I literally rolled my eyes. My bridal party is walking to "That's what's up" by Lennon & Maisy.

I agree with M on a thousand years.

Then again I'm doing Canon in D for my bridal party, and if that's not overdone, I don't know what is. But hey, my processional is concerning hobbits because I live in the shire pretty much lol.

Who cares if a million people have done a thousand years.. if that's what you like go for it. In case you wanted something different.. We are doing Giving it all to You – Haley & Michaels.. Such a beautiful song. I am doing a thousand years for my entrance

Also...Is colour my world in a minor key? D maybe? Because while it's a sweet song, the music itself seems... sad. I like Beginnings because well... your wedding is a beginning and it's so happy.

My bridal party walked to Falling in Love With You by the Piano Guys.

But I also don't see what the big deal is walking to a song that everyone else has walked to. If you like it and it works for you, do it! I walked out to Canon in D and still love my choice.

My first choice was A Thousand Years, by The Piano Guys - AMAZING version. Then we decided to have live guitarists, who are playing A Thousand Years instead. I've always felt like it was a perfect choice!
