Wedding on a Monday?

FutureMrs.Moakley, on December 27, 2015 at 6:06 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

So, my parents were invited to a cousins wedding. It's local so they RSVP'd yes. I looked at the invite the other day and I realized the wedding is on a Monday, tomorrow to be exact. I just found it so odd. I've never heard of a Monday wedding that wasn't a holiday weekend. Is Monday the new Friday?

Weekday weddings are a lot better pricing especially if the couple have a small budget

It's a way for the couple to save money. I've been to a few weddings on Monday and Thursday. Both days had a pretty good turnout.

I can see doing this, especially if it's a small ceremony with a lot of people who work in academia who are already off this week. Great pricing and people don't have to use a vacation day. Almost wishing I had thought about this now..

    Edit: word order

During a holiday week like this one, I think it's fine. I once attended a Tuesday wedding...it was July 3rd.

I have a friend getting married on a Monday because it's the one year anniversary of their legal marriage. This is just the ceremony for everyone to celebrate.

Unfortunately the leap year put it on a Monday instead of a Sunday!

Tomorrow is a bank holiday (in UK at least) so that might be the reason?

All bets are off at this time of year, but we do small weddings every day of the week.

While Saturday is still the most popular, people do weddings on every day of the week and for all sorts of reasons. Maybe the date is significant to the couple for some reason. Perhaps that was the only date available at the venue they wanted or with a certain vendor they had their heart set on. Perhaps it was far less expensive on that day. It is true that sometimes it means some people can't make it on a weekday but couples just decide if they are ok with that and if they are then they go ahead with it.

The date might be significant to the couple. We are getting married in a Friday but if that date wasn't available our second choice was a Monday.

I officiated a beach wedding elopement on Sunday morning (yesterday).

Actually, morning, afternoon, or evening -- any day of the week works for destination weddings. I'm usually busy on long holiday weekends, too.

If I was given the opportunity to do it all over again I would have chosen a weekday instead of a Saturday. Not only do you get cheaper prices for vendors, but the people that want to be there will be there & you'll have a smaller food bill to cover for those that don't. Win-Win for the bride & grooms checkbook!
