Ginna, on August 26, 2012 at 10:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

We are planning on getting married in January 2013, Los Angeles, CA or surrounding areas, we only have $7000 to put towards ceremony and reception. Need help finding a venue or planner who can help us. Looking at about 80 guests.

How many people? Unless you're looking at 50ish, it's going to be tough in that neighborhood....

With that small of a budget do not even consider a wedding planner. Do researches on parks and if you belong to a church, usually you can have your wedding and reception at the church at no cost. we had less than 10,000 as a budget. I did all my planning. and we had only 50 guests. Keeping the guest list to a minimum is the key LA is very expensive. The food is the killer. Some venues require that you use their catering which can be very expensive. Look for places that have bargain packages.

Wayfarer's church is ~$**** for the ceremony but you only get 2 hrs there. It holds up to 100ppl. That would leave you with about $**** for the reception depending on the day (Sunday's are cheaper than Saturdays). LaVenta Inn is nearby..but probably not in the cost range. Check nearby park areas that can be rented and catered perhaps.

If your budget is $7,000, then your venue and catering should be no more than $3500, no matter how many guests you have. Take a look a the list of Los Angeles parks that host weddings - http://www.laparks.org/info/wedding.htm. For each one, Google "Wedding photography (venue name)" so you can see pictures of each. There's also the Wilson Harding Clubhouse at Griffith Park, which is $30 per person, covering rental and food. It's a good deal, and the people there are great - http://www.yelp.com/biz/wilson-harding-clubhouse-los-angeles. Just be patient and keep looking - you'll find what you need!
