wedding officiant did'nt file our papers...

HOLY CRAP! I don't know what you do in that situation. I think you have like 30 days to file your papers right? Did you call the office where you filed for your marriage license and ask them what you should do?

I would hunt this person down and demand that they file the paperwork. I'm so glad that I know my officiants, if they slack on filing the paperwork (I trust that they will get it down) I will campout in their kitchen until they do it, it's a good thing I know they don't lock their back door.

I contacted the municipality today.. they have even attempted contacted her also... We have our pink copy but thats not going to dothat much.. our witnesses may have to and sign an afidative(something like that) one of them lives in canada... we trusted and paid this women in good faith.. for goodness sake she is a reverend.. why would she not respond to any of our messages, if she did the right thing.. I wish people would just do the right thing.. this has made me so sick..ugh

OMG that's terrible I agree with ladylee, call the license place to see what they suggest. Also, do you know where this person lives? If so, pay a visit FAST!

I dont know how it works in what ever state youre in but here in Ca, it was our our job to get our pastor who married us to sign it, and then our job to mail it in with a 13 dollar check . Unless that was inyour agreement and part of the services you paid for... can you go to her office? I would hate to think she lost your paper work and is just too embarressed or something to return a phone call...

Its NJ.. she was responsible for filing the papers... that was Nov. 28th... I am so disappointed .. but all would be okay if she would just phone us and explain..I just want it to get fixed...

If you have her address, I'd even try sending her a certiied letter with the paperwork to fill out again. Good luck!

Hopefully she isn't a scam artist. Assuming she's not, if she came highly recommended and there's nothing but good reviews about her and now she isn't returning your phone calls, there must be something very, very wrong going on her end. Is it possible she's in poor health?

Perhaps something is wrong with her. Heaven forbid, she has had a health emergency or something. Odd that she would just blow you off. Does she have an office that you can go by?

so I would say at this point she is blowing us off and obviously knows what she did... all she needs to do is fix this.. contact the municipality.. ugh!!

Try to hunt her down, and if worse comes to worse, it should be past the filing period and you guys can apply for a new one and have it signed and everything at the courthouse so you KNOW it's legal now!

Yeah, I agree with prestty much everyone else here - go to her job. I would become an ache in her left butt cheek that she just could no longer ignore. I would call her, email, drop past her job, contact the police (fraud, possibly - check with your state - you have paid her for a service she has not performed), AND I would comment all over her blog.

ON a side note - there was a photog that was taking brides' money (a lot, too) and NEVER returning phone calls and not delivering pics/albums/CDs. One bride started a blog about the photog . She found over 15 couples that had been treated the same way. Maybe you could go that route if she doesn't do her job...

I would get a "lawyer" to contact her and leave a message on her machine...You siad she was a reverend, can you contact the church over see-er (not sure what you call the boss of a rev)

if she doesnt answer by the end of today.. I WILL make her name and business "WELL KNOW".. I have'nt mentioned it yet or wrote a review on her site yet...because I was giving her the benefit of the doubt..and it would be a shame if this happened to another bride and groom!

She may not be affiliated with a church. Out of curiosity, how did you find this officiant?

If you leave a comment on her website she will probably delete it but who knows maybe some people will see it before she has an opportunity to delete it and certainly you can utilize some mechanisms she has no control over. Probably at this point you have no recourse but to apply for a new marriage license, have a jop quickie and have them file it properly. But I would take this woman to small claims court and sue her for the cost of both licenses and filing fees as well as any travel fees associated with trying to sort it out. If you have to take time off work, charge her for that too. This really is a shame.

but she is recommended on this web site..I checked all the reviews, etc.... All seemed to go perfect.. she did have a small problem with responding back right away on a couple of ocassions during the process... but other people mentioned that ,too on the reviews.. but it was not anything like this!!!!

The municipality were we live phoned her and e-mailed her yesterday.. so we will wait til this afternoon and see if she contacted them back... so far she has not..if not we will see what we want do.... Thanks for all your support!!!! :-)
