Wedding Night??

Okay, so my FH and I are debating what we want to do for our wedding night. We are debating staying at a hotel room that night or going to our house?

Just some details: we are in the process of buying a home and he will live there but I will not move in until we are married so being together in our home would still be special. If we chose the house we would have someone to decorate and make it even more special too.

We leave the next morning for our honeymoon but are driving so no real time schedule!

Any opinions on why one would be better than the other?

    How far is your venue from your home? Also, where do you plan to get ready? If you're already getting ready in a hotel room near to the venue, I would just keep that hotel room for the night.

    We wanted to stay in a hotel. We didn't want to worry about setting up our house cute/romantic/etc. or have any distractions of laundry/dishes/etc. I want room service in the morning too!

    We're staying in the hotel just due to fact that we'll be wrapping up pretty late. Plus our hotel is giving us a night free as a thank you, so we can't pass that up. Smiley laugh

    We can’t really drive home after since it’s about 2.5 hours, but one thing my FH mentioned was that we will have a hot tub and a jacuzzi tub at the hotel.

    IMO, a hotel night would be better.. an opportunity to relax, less distractions related to the house/setting up and so on. You can always go to the house the next day or when you come back from your honeymoon?

    I personally think the hotel will be nice. You will likely be finishing late and won’t want to drive home. Also there won’t be any distractions at the hotel like at home.

    We're just going back to my/our apartment. We wanted our first night as husband and wife to be in our own home. There just seemed to be something special about that for us.

    Yes, this is exactly what we are going to do. There are a whole bunch of hotels just a few minutes from the venue. The night before the wedding, I'll stay with my daughter and granddaughter in the hotel, and FH will have his own room, and maybe have his son stay with him the night before. Then after the wedding, FH and I will stay in his room together, as we also will leave for our honeymoon the next day.

    We will be staying in a hotel room that night, we also get this with the package from the venue (it's the hotel with a ballroom). But the thing that FH and I are most excited about is that when the reception is done with get complimentary champagne and pizza that is part of the package to. This was my FH's selling point when we picked this venue and what he was the most excited about in regards to this venue lol.

    Hey Grace! My fiancé and I are going back to our apartment after the wedding instead of booking a hotel. We figured it would be more special and then we can save a little bit of money. We are also driving the next morning to go to our honeymoon, so we are in the same boat! Our venue is about 40 minutes from the apartment, so not too far. I think if you're willing to make the drive and it is not too far, I would just stay at the home.

    We’re leaving the day after our wedding so we’re staying in a hotel next to the airport so we can sleep in a little longer.

    We had just bought a home too. We didn’t want to stay in a hotel, we wanted our first night as husband and wife to be in our first new home.

    It would only be around 30 min to get back to our house. We’ve really gone back and forth on both options. But I think it could be even more special and comfortable knowing it’s our first night together in our own home🤷🏻‍♀️

    I will agree with this! I think a hotel is special and exciting, but where we haven’t spent the night with each other at all I almost think being in our own home just the two of us could be just as if not more special!

    Our venue would only be about 30 min and we would drive at least 15 to a hotel from our venue..so not a huge difference. And we will be getting married in town and then driving the 30 min to the venue.

    Yes I’m married already, we made a year this month. We were very glad with our decision. We had a hotel but ended up letting my bridal party keep it because we thought being in our own home would be more special and memorable.

    I’m moving into the house we’re renting two weeks before the wedding. My fiancé will move some of his stuff in, but won’t be staying there with me until after the wedding. We decided to do a hotel room for the wedding night mostly for the Jacuzzi tub and the fact that if we’re at the house, I will stress. We’ll stay at home the night after the wedding night before we go on our honeymoon.

    I agree! My fiancé and I are excited to start married life together in our own place, not in a strange hotel room with no meaning to us.
