Wedding Massages

mrs, on August 15, 2011 at 3:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 54

As a massage therpist, my gift to all of my friends for their weddings was a massage. Most of them had it done the morning of the wedding to relax them. I highly suggest some sort of relaxation before the big day!

I have heard it isn't good to do it the day of, I didn't know what that meant until I got my very 1st massage ever earlier this year. it was a sweet gift I got from Fh soon after we got enagaged. But the massage was absolutely amazing, it felt really really good, but later on the day and sort of the next day, my mucsules felt kinda sore, and strange. don't reallly know quite how to explain it.

I don't think that's the best idea for the morning of a wedding....and it's kinda a weird gift...

It's not a weird gift for someone who appreciates a good massage! I don't think it's weird if it's from a massage therapist, or a gift certificate from a friend who knows you need / want one.

My back and neck are problematic, so you better believe I am going to get destressed with a massage withing 24 (maybe 48) hours of getting hitched!!

I think it's a little weird because I don't want to know my massage therapist on a personal level, but that's just me.

    That's..nice..I guess.
I perfer to get massages from people I don't know well, as I feel obligated to make conversation with people I do know giving me massages, and that's not relaxing at all. Not to mention the surpirse allergice reactions I sometimes get from massage oil, not a nice thing to have the day of your wedding. And sometimes I have reactions to ones I have used before with no issue.

I suggest it the day before... I rather be taking pictures then laying naked on a table getting a massage the day of my wedding.

Wow, sounds like a lot of negative experiences with massage therapy. #1 - get LMT that doesn't talk during the sessions. I don't, simply because the client becomes more relaxed when there's no talking. #2 - ask that they only use natural, hypoallergenic and non skin clogginng oil or cream. #3 - don't get a deep tissue massage before your wedding. #4 if your the type that thinks massage is "weird" or "creepy," simply don't get one! I've never had a client who didn't like massage, probably because you don't walk into a massage studio if the thought of the person touching you gives you the willies. Hehe

If any of my friends tried to give me a rub down I think I would die laughing. And don't get me wrong, I love massages but not from a friend.

I don't think that they are weird or creepy, I think a friend rubbing me down is weird or creepy. Just one of those things where I don't want to know the person.

Does this mean Fins and Glenn don't like it when I rub them?

I guess if my friends didn't purchase my massages for their bdays and christmases, I guess I would figure they wouldn't want them for their wedding. What ends up happening is they book a wedding massage with me, and then I just don't charge them.
