Wedding Invites/rsvp

Shana, on June 17, 2019 at 2:40 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

This is probably a stupid question, but I confused myself. I'm making my wedding invites, am I supposed to put an RSVP on those or add an additional RSVP card with the invite? I know most people will want to keep the invites, especially family. What's the proper etiquette for this?

If you are doing a paper RSVP (where the guests send them back in the mail) it's included in the invite envelope but is it's own paper & envelope (usually smaller than your invite so it all fits together). Then they can keep the invite and all the information. If you do online RSVP, you can mention it on the invite if you want.

If you’re doing RSVP thru the mail then you would need an RSVP card that they would mail back. If you’re doing it through your wedding website it’s fine to put that at the bottom of the invite.

I did a separate RSVP card but I am having people email or text their RSVP. It's something different but, I honestly was trying to save on costs of postage. And people are always using electronics so lets hope this works.

I think if you do something like this you could go ahead and put it on the invitation like on the back of it. But, if you are wanting them to send the RSVP back via mail then I would do a separate card.

    Hi there Shana!

The previous posters are all correct!

Are you looking for people to post back their RSVPs or RSVP online on a wedding website?

We are doing an online RSVP, but we have it on a second card separate from the invitation. But both will be in the same envelope when we mail them, if that makes any sense.

As PP have said you can either do online RSVP's through your website but if you're having paper invites then there is a separate RSVP card and separate envelope that gets sent back to you. It is proper etiquette to have the return enveloped already addressed with a stamp on it as well.
