Wedding Invite Wording Help

Jolie, on July 3, 2019 at 1:26 PM Posted in Planning 1 4

So I am looking at examples and they are all different. Since my brother is making my invites I need to figure out the wording. I want to use "Together with their families" then our first and last names, and something along the lines of "request your presence" but don't know how to word the rest of the request part. What is everyone else doing??

Additionally, what all did you put on the detail cards? I know hotel info, maybe attire annnnd that's about it. Idk what else to put! The wedding and reception are in the same place I am not doing directions.

We did together with their families our names request the pleasure of your company. Because request the honor of your presence is only used if you’re getting married in a house of worship and we got married at a vineyard. For details card we put our wedding website and info about our welcome party. You can put hotel info but attire doesn’t generally go on an invitation or details card.

This is what we did. We did our names first because we are paying for the wedding. Parent names go first if they are paying.

Ours said "Together with their families, X & X request the pleasure of your company at the celebration of their marriage. Saturday, date, time, location. Dinner and dancing to follow."

We had two detail cards. The first one had our two hotel blocks (one on the front, one on the back). The second one had a blurb about guest transportation (we are providing it for guests that want to use it) and about driving (our venue is in a small town about 30 minutes outside of the blocked hotel and any major city). The back side was either blank, or had a blurb about kids (those only went to families with kids 10 and under). It mentioned what the kids meal would be and the name of the nanny service present in the kids room if they want to use it! We didn't mention attire, but it's on our website.

Hey Angelena! I love that your brother is making your invitations! What will they look like?

Wording your invitations can be a little tricky, so I think this article from the Ideas section will help you out a lot!!

    Wedding Invitation Wording: Decoded!

On your information card, you should include details about your venue, such as parking or transportation info that would be helpful for guests. As you mentioned, you should include hotel information and mention if you have a hotel block in any hotels. If you have made a wedding website, you should also include that and invite your guests to check it out.
