Wedding Invitation Typo..... FREAKING OUT!

Morgan, on December 20, 2014 at 4:06 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 57

SO..... I just received ALL 125 of our foil pressed invitations in the mail to find that I made a typo on the back of the invitation (we decided to provide reception/guest accommodation info on the back of our invite, rather then including a separate card to be a little more eco-friendly).

I had 7 people go over our proof for all parts of our invitations (including my fiance, MOH, MOB and MOG) prior to submitting it. However, upon re-reading the information on the BACK of our primary invitation card while prepping to send them out, I realized that under the "Guest Accommodations" heading there is a minor typo. It states,"Please use the following to link reserve your room.....(cont. guest info)," rather then, "Please use the following link to reserve your room".

My fiance said he didn't even notice it until I pointed it out, but I'm FREAKING OUT! Do you all think this worth paying $500 to re-print all of our invitations, because of this minor typo on the back?!?! Thanks so much!

I really wouldn't reprint your invitations for such a minor error. Like your fiance pointed out, he didn't even notice it. I don't think anyone else will either.

Think about it this way. You'd be paying $500 for the word "to". Including the extra spaces, that is still $125 per character you have to add. Is it worth it? Not at all in my mind.

Ahh I'm sorry about that...I understand how upset you must be. But no, I would not spend the money for new ones.

First of all, just like you and all the others that proof read it, I suspect many of your guests won't even notice! It's just the way our brains work! Lol I'm not sure if I can explain this well! Kinda like your brain expects to see "follow this link to" instead of "to link" because that's what's expected. Which is most likely the reason you all missed it in the first place!!

Second, even if someone does notice it, it's very obvious what you actually meant.

Relax...your wedding will still be wonderful & this can be something you laugh at later! Good luck!

Heck no! I bet no one will even notice if the first seven people didn't. Remember that you're the only one who is going to be looking THAT closely at the invitation because you wrote what's on it!

People won't notice and if they do, they'll think it's unfortunate - not that you're an idiot.

We forgot to put "RSVP by" on ours. We had the date, just not "RSVP by." At that point, I was upset for maybe an hour and then grabbed a black pen and wrote it in. No one said anything. Mistakes happen.

They won't notice, trust me. If none of you did, they won't either. Don't reprint them.

Honestly when I was reading it I didn't even notice what the typo was I had to go back and carefully read it. It's no big deal, don't stress over it! :-)

I would not worry about it! The eye corrects as it reads. It is minor. Not worth $500 in my opinion.

Nope! Not worth it honey. I know it's annoying, but it's not a big deal and certainly not worth $500 to correct. If you had wrong information such as a wrong address, then yea you need to fix that but not this minor mistake. Send them and try not to stress! Smiley smile

No, it will be ok. That is very minor in the realm of potential typos. Most people's brains will automatically correct it, and for those who do catch the mistake, they will definitely still know what you meant.

A trick for proofreading is to start at the end and work toward the beginning of the sentence/paragraph.

I wouldn't, but did you call and ask whatever company if they will reprint them for free and overnight them to you? ETA because I'm an idiot and also read it wrong lol

I wouldn't, I don't think people will notice and like the other ladies said, if they do they know what you meant.

I think it is pretty minor, especially since it's on the backside of the invitation. For me, I would probably freak out if it was the actual invitation wording, but for the accommodation info, don't stress it.

Agreed with the other ladies, don't waste your money. @Emily is totally right, my brain automatically corrected the error and I didn't even notice it. I had to read it a couple of times to figure out what the problem is. Put that money toward better use.

Its one of those small things, people may notice it but it wont make or break the wedding, I promise.
