Wedding Insurance Worth It?

Cl, on July 11, 2018 at 12:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
For those who have purchased wedding insurance, is it worth it? Is it expensive? Pros? Cons? Sorry for all the questions, this is unfamiliar territory for me.

I think it depends- I don't know much about it because each of my individual vendors supplies it. My venue requires insurance from any non-preferred vendor (so my photographer and florist in my case) and everything else they take care of.

I think you're referring to insurance that covers you and your fiance for your wedding. i.e. if a vendor doesn't deliver their services, if a venue burns down, if a death occurs and you need to postpone or cancel etc etc, right?

It's been around for a bit, but has been gaining in popularity. I suspect some of that might have to do with the expenses of weddings getting out of control.

That said, I've been debating it myself. God forbid one of the above happens, it would be nice to have insurance to compensate with any issues. I'm not an insurance agent, and I haven't purchased it yet myself, but from what I can tell policies for around $35K are about $300 (or really most policies look to be $100 to $500). You have decide if that's worth it or not.
Here's some articles that might help:

I also found it easy to get a policy rate here: https://www.wedsafe.com/Pages/WedsafeEligibility.aspx?Purchase=New

I don't really have many answers for you. but hopefully my two cents pointed you in the right direction.

I would love to hear from anyone that has purchased it, though.

Like any other type of insurance, it's invaluable if you need to make a claim. The cost isn't that much compared to what you will lose if there was a natural disaster (floods, tornado, hurricane, etc), or even a power outage or some other event that prohibits your wedding from taking place as planned. Personally I think the cost is worth the peace of mind.
