Nope but if FH would let me I would in a heart beat. I would check google for recommended places to hold a wedding and then ask about pricing. Because it is international probably best to get legally married in your home state and have the ceremony their because other countries have rules that can make it a challenge like a residency period for how long you have to wait to get married down to proof of blood tests. I know if we go that route we are gonna do the legal piece in our state. If it is in Madrid I recommend Parque de Retiro. Beautiful and I feel you would not need decorations. Here is something that may help:https://traveltriangle.com/blog/wedding-venues-in-spain/

I am right now as well! In Marbella, Sept 2021. Which city are you planning it in?

Awesome! Ours is supposed to be near L’Escala, near the coast north of Barcelona. How is your planning going and how are you feeling with all the covid stuff going on? I am not a fan of all the uncertainty!

I feel the same way but really hoping that 14 months from now things will be quite different. Or shall I say, 11 months from now for your wedding as well! I found a wedding planner in the area that I love and she's been SO helpful already. I'd probably tear my hair out if I tried doing everything by myself, I've never even been there before haha. Near Barcelona is Costa Brava right? I've seen photos, it looks stunning!

Yes, it’s on the Costa Brava! My fiancé is optimistic things will look much differently next year, similar to your thoughts! That’s great that you have a wedding planner over there, we have one that we love too! We should keep in touch throughout the planning! What made you decide on Spain?

I'd love to keep in touch! I'm curious to know if you're doing any Spanish wedding traditions, what sort of menu, colors etc! Is your venue seaside?

My FH is from France and his grandfather owned a home in Almeria so he spent every summer there growing up. It's a really meaningful area for him. Almeria itself is not a very touristy town so I couldn't find enough venue/hotel options there but two hours west in Marbella I found the perfect spot. It's still the Costa del Sol so it worked out!

    How about you?

For the menu, we’re doing a bunch of tapas, paella, etc. so really excited for that. Smiley smile we’re also going to have some flamenco 💃🏻 and a Spanish guitarist! The venue is old-world style, stone building, I can send you pictures! It’s about 10 min from the coast. And for colors, the main ones are orange/rust/terra-cotta (to stand out against the stone color) and some blue/purple to complement. What about you?

That’s so awesome that he has connections to Andalucía! I lived in Granada for a year 😊

That sounds like a gorgeous color combo! Would love to see pictures of your venue. Mine is here: lasusanamarbella.com

Living in Granada must've been amazing! I studied for a summer in Morocco but that's as close as I got to the south of Spain lol.

I am thinking mostly champagne and white because I love neutrals but with some blue accents so it's not too boring maybe. Friday night's meet & greet is a seafood grill, for the reception dinner we went with a surf & turf type meal, and Sunday's lunch is paella and octopus! I am sooo excited for the food.

I haven't fully decided about musicians and entertainment but it does seem a shame not to have a flamenco dancer! I found a stunning version of "All You Need is Love" on Spanish guitar that I will very likely use to walk down the aisle to. I also read that the traditional wedding flower in Spain are orange blossoms, have you pondered flowers yet? I'm a Floridian so I love the orange connection haha.

Wow, Morocco! That’s amazing, how was that? I still would love to go there!
Food sounds delicious as well, we’re super excited for the food too. Your music choice sounds great!
Yes, I’ve been browsing flowers and our planner has been helping pin things to my Pinterest board - I’m really loving combos of white, bright oranges, and pale blue/lavenders! What about you?

Oh my gosh your venue is stunning! I love it. I suggested Costa Brava to my FH but he was dead set on the Costa del Sol haha. The colors sound perfect.

Morocco was an incredible experience, I'd really like to go back and visit to see how it's changed. I was there in 2008. Maybe after the wedding! Speaking of that, are you honeymooning right after?

What's your timeline for save the dates, dress shopping, sending invitations and expecting rsvps etc? You're in the US right?

Yeah that seems like an idea, you guys will be so close to Morocco!

Timeline, ugh, lol - it’s so tricky right now with Covid. I already have my dress since we were supposed to get married this June, and as far as save the dates and invitations, we had already sent out save the dates which obviously don’t apply anymore. I think this time around it will be a much smaller window between giving people a heads up and the actual event, just because things seem to be changing so quickly - every day there’s new news.
How are you guys approaching it?

I am (hopefully not unwisely) approaching it as though everything will be different come a year from now haha. I’m trying to get my save the dates out within a month to give everyone ample time to plan.
We are supposed to go to France and bring my parents for Christmas time so that our families can meet each other but I have no idea if the borders will be open by then. Fingers crossed. So regarding the wedding, as long as travel restrictions have been lifted, we should be fine. Especially since it’s realistic that there’ll be a vaccine by both our wedding dates. I’m remaining firmly optimistic lol.

Are you sending out “change the dates”? I just started dress shopping this week, pretty early but I have NO idea what kind of dress I would want. So I consider these first shopping trips “research” haha. Did you factor in your wedding venue while dress shopping? To make sure they “match” so to speak, in terms of fanciness and vibe? I’m not sure if I’m worrying about that too much.

That’s a good question about “change the dates”! I think we will probably just send out emails with itineraries and update our website of course.

As far as the dress, yes I did kind of match my dress with the venue. Since ours is at a historic/rustic place and very Spanish-y I wanted a dress that also had a Spanish vibe. I ended up getting a Pronovias dress Smiley smile
How has your dress shopping been coming along?

I love Pronovias! I was all set to select one but I ended up falling for a Marchesa lol. I really loved the fit and flare style dresses because of how flattering they are on the figure but ultimately went with princess. I just kept thinking, when else in life do you get to wear a princess dress?? Smiley smile
