Wedding in March....

Paige, on September 19, 2013 at 10:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

I live in Northwest Ohio and am getting married March 15,2014. I would really love an outside wedding with an outside/inside reception but am worried about the weather.... Has anyone lived either close to here or where the weather can be unpredictable in March.... what did you decide to do for your wedding????

See that is how are winters are sometimes March can be sunny and warm, snowy and super cold, rainy, or just a regular spring day.... I think last year it was snowy and I know the year before that it was kind of nice but then out of no where we got hit with snow and black ice on March 5.... Thank You

I would NOT attempt an outdoor wedding in mid-March. You could end up with a foot of snow on the ground.

If you're really set on it, I would find a place that would be lovely enough to do inside, but have an outside option in case it were nice.

Use this link to look up the weather for the past 10 years. Do you remember how cold it was this year on St. Patrick's day? (March 17th) compared to LAST year when it was nearly 80? (which was a freak accident?) And consider that a lot of people are not comfortable in weather under mid-60's or 70's.

Oh, anyway....to answer your real question. Smiley smile I am getting married in Iowa in October and have done pretty much what I suggested for you. I have a venue that I can get married at inside, and if it's really nice (It can snow, it can rain, and it can be warm in late October in Iowa), I can set up an outdoor ceremony, if it's not so nice, I can still have my wedding without freaking out.

I live in NJ, and we don't even recommend outside in March without a great Plan B.

I live in PA, and my venue even told me April can get iffy for outside ceremonies. I would make sure your venue has both indoor and outdoor options.

I live in PA and wanted an outside venue. but with march being so iffy, i chose an all indoor venue. they do weddings outside in nice weather, people can still go out and take a little break from everything, and...if for some reason its a nice warm day, we can decide the day of to have it outside. yay!

also....we have the same wedding date! horray!

HI we are getting married on the same day Smiley smile I live in Vancouver and we are planing on outdoors but we do have a backup plan. On average the weather isn't to bad her and defiantly no snow so as long as it isn't pouring rain our ceremony will be outside. Good luck . Smiley smile

My wedding is also the same day. I live in Pa right on the border of NY and would love an outdoor wedding but the chances of that are slim to cold. Still have not found a venue as my pastor is from out of town.

I live on the eastern shore and the Bay sends crazy weather to us too! Really you just need a Plan B. Our venue will let us move inside if need be (I will be watching the forecast like a hawk). I am planning on renting heaters, giving out blankets in our colors and serving warm beverages if it's nippy out! But if it snows the pictures would be amazing...

I live in southern Maryland, and my venue ONLY offered outdoor weddings from mid-April through October due to weather concerns. In northern Ohio, I just wouldn't risk it. Could you find a location that has pretty outdoor space for *pictures* only, so that you can still have some outdoors time?

Or, could you change the date? I assume it's not set in stone, since you haven't booked a venue yet?

I would not bet on it honey. Like the other ladies said have a strong backup plan. But make sure they are in the same location, you don't want to have all your guests confused trying to go from one area to another depending on the weather.

I've lived in Northeast Ohio my entire life, and in fact am getting married in Cleveland on the 22nd of March. I knew there was no way I could have an outdoor wedding. It was impossible and my guests would think I was losing my marbles.

I know live in the Cincinnati area and while the winters are more mild it is in now way a safe bet for an outdoor wedding.
