Wedding guest dress etiquette HELP!

Jacqueline, on June 22, 2017 at 9:09 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 41

I am going to a wedding next month and I have two dresses I can wear, one is cream with light purple florals, and the other is mint lace.

1) Is cream with florals too close to white to be OK for attending a wedding?

2) The wedding colors are blue and green, is it a no-no to wear mint?

HELP!

EDIT: I have a photo of the cream dress. For the wedding I would wear it with a purple cardigan, not a cream one.

You should be ok in either. Pics?

Colors aside, they both look too short to wear to a wedding.

I like the floral on better. The green one looks very middle school dance.

I think they both look perfectly wedding acceptable, and cute!

Maybe it's because I'm from farm/Amish country, but they don't look too casual for an evening wedding to me. (Even without the rustic/camo weddings that are popular here.)

I think the floral one is better. What time is the wedding?

The ceremony is at 3, and the reception is at 6. There's a break in between.

They are definitely not too short. I think you'd have to consider the venue to tell if they are formal enough. I prefer the cream.

I agree with Richard. Those look very casual to me. It really does depend on the wedding though. Most of the casual weddings I go to I at least wear a long maxi dress.

I like the first dress. Neither are too short. I think the both are appropriate for a 3:00 wedding.

I'm with Richard, they look more lunchtime shower appropriate than evening wedding appropriate, unless it's a very casual wedding.

I like the mint dress best. as for wearing white/cream I see it all too often that guests and even parents wear white to a wedding.

I think they are both fine. I like the mint one better, though.

And LOL at the comment about length. Who cares? I'm expecting all of my female guests to wear short dresses for our night wedding in Manhattan.

I would wear the mint one. I stay far away from any whites/creams for weddings.

I think they're both fine. I'm also seconding the comments that say the dresses aren't too short. I don't even know how that's a thing in this situation. And as far as formality goes, unless they gave some kind of dress code on the invitation or it's going to be held at the Waldorf-Astoria, these should both be fine (I tend to think the mint one is more formal, for some reason dresses that just have floral on the bottom seem less formal to me).

They are absolutely not too short. Jesus Christ, is she expected to wear a dress to her shins? Both are cute! You'd be fine in either one!
