All of the places we looked at in our area only allowed their own catering service. So we had no other option. That may have been because most have their own restaurant too. Where were having t e wedding and reception has a lot of options and has their own restaurant associated with it, so we don't feel too limited with food.

We hired a caterer and are doing buffet style. The food is 'upscale comfort food' (that's how the chef described it). We'll be having a charcuterie table during cocktail hour, caprese salad, butternut squash salad, filet mignon, lemon basil chicken, potatoes au gratin, roasted veggies, and mac n' cheese.

We hired Jimmy Johns to cater! We are having an outdoor wedding with a lunchtime reception so we will have several large platters of different types of subs and pasta salad and potato salad!

Venue buffett - a wide variety of heavy appetizers. Our venue only allows cakes to be brought in, though they do make sheet cakes. All other food and drink has to be through them, which was fine because they make fantastic food and all their own craft alcohol (beer/wine and liquor) along with stocking other brands of alcohol. We did opt to go with a separate bakery for our wedding cake since I wanted a tiered cake.

The food: Terminator Meatballs (in a savory beer based sauce), Rustic Chicken Tenders, Smoked Salmon Crostini, Crab Cakes, Spankopita Triangles, Stuffed Mushrooms, Nacho Bar, Pretzels/Fondue, Hummus/Veg, Mixed Green Salad with a variety of dressings

Plus coffee/tea and lemonade, along with a full bar (open up to about $1500, then over to cash bar).

Thanks! I'm pretty excited about it. I'm not going to be one of those brides that don't eat. Smiley xd I'm talking to our coordinator to make sure we build in time.

We’re doing catering from a guy who is friends with my fiancé’s dad. He owns a restaurant and catering business in town. Eggplant parm, chicken parm, and salmon with rice pilaf, rosemary potatoes, roasted veggies, salad, and garlic bread for the sides!

Catering has been the most difficult. If somewhere isn't over budget, the menu is not friendly to a ton of food allergies we have to dance around. FH has gout: no lobster, red meats, heavily buttered items, and a few other minor restrictions. FMIL is allergic to shellfish. Some family members, including myself don't eat meat or animal products most meals. A groomsmen has a literal list of allergies. Diabetes runs in my family; type one and two. The area is mostly small businesses in Maine, which means mostly seafood and butter on their menus.

We understand it may get looked down on, but we are strongly thinking of going with Subway catering if we can't find a way to do sushi. It fits mostly everyone's restrictions, with very minor changes we would have to do on our end before serving. Plus the cookies are bomb af. We wanted low key anyway and felt caterers weren't understanding how casual we were talking.

Our venue requires us to use their catering. So we’ll have a buffet of a chicken entree (still undecided on specifics, we’ll decide at our tasting), prime rib carving station, potatoes, veggies, salad & rolls. It’s a lunch reception so I think it’s perfect to get our guests through the day (with an open bar).
