Wedding Field Day!?!

Natasha, on August 12, 2015 at 10:01 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Has anyone done this or attended one? We are getting married in Mexico and will have a house with a huge lawn. Since many of our friends and family are making a vacation out of it, we wanted to host something the Thursday before so everyone could get to know each other. I thought that rather than the typical Welcome Dinner, we could do a Field Day so we could all hang out in the sunshine, have a little fun, and get our drink on.

Do you guys have any ideas of what we could do? Right now, I have just thought of water balloon toss, three legged races, and flip cup. Any thoughts, suggestions, or experiences would be helpful! Thank you

Honestly my family is into this kinda thing but i'd keep it casual and less scripted. Flip cup sounds good. I wouldn't want to do water balloon and get wet. Three legged races are awkward unless you're 15.

Just my opinion- maybe more games that aren't dependent on x number of people doing them? Like cornhole, horseshoes, etc..

Its what happens at the end of the year in grade school. you play games like tug of war, etc.

personally i wouldnt like this, but id be down for a few drinks and to watch.

If a field day is what you're after, I'd think about doing some adult type games vs a three-legged-race and water balloons. Maybe try and get a corn hole game or play beer pong? Or a volleyball net?

Thanks for the tips! i guess it would be awkward to do a 3 legged race as an adult haha a lot of the things i thought about i think would be rather violent as an adult (like dodge ball- ouch!). I like the idea of beer pong and flip cup too, but was just trying to think of non-drinking games as well for those who don't drink. Horseshoes and volleyball sound fun!

People love lawn games but since you're getting married in Mexico I'm not sure if you'd be able to bring them. Corn hole, Kan Jam, Horseshoes.. etc

Egg and spoon race, the one where you spin with your forehead on a bat and then try to run a short distance like 50 ft. The chain race where you stick an orange under your chin and try to pass it to the next person, giant jenga, .... And don't forget, the more drink, the more fun these games can be!
