Wedding Favors

Is it really "required" to do favors for the guests? Anyone doing them for their wedding?

In my opinion, nobody really cares if there are favors or not. Save the cash.

It's not mandatory but if you decide to do it, providing something edible is your best bet.

We are doing favors for our wedding.

I believe you can go either way really.
I have been to a wedding where there is little candies spread along the decor on the table, and that was fine with everyone at my table. I didnt mind either way.
Gone to a wedding with none, I didn't give it a thought because they are giving me food and entertainment for the night. And their photobooth gave the guest a copy and saved a copy for the couple, which kinda seems like a little wedding favor to me. Although they didnt label it to be one lol.
Only wedding people didnt seem to care for is when it was a glass that had the couple's wedding date and names.

Nope. Not necessary anymore. Providing good food & drinks is considered good hosting. We skipped favors.

Not required, and a number of wedding planners I've read/watched suggest skipping them entirely if you are looking to save money because guests often leave them behind anyway.

I was going back and forth about doing some or not but the FMIL is really pushing it. I really only wanted to do a food item because i feel like most other things people do not keep and will end up throwing away. So we decided on smore's. then on the bag it will say something along the lines of Smore love from Philip and Jordan. Smiley smile

Definitely not necessary. I think the favors I've gotten are cute and creative, but when I get home I either throw them out or they've been on my apartment for months without me using them!

Instead of favors, my fiance and I have decided to make a donation to a charity that means a lot to us. To save money and be able to donate more, we'll likely just put a sign at the card table or each table and say "Thank you for coming! In lieu of favors, we've made a donation to XXXX in honor of our marriage."

Definitely not! Feeding people is enough. Most favors get tossed or forgotten.
