Wedding Favors!

Cassi, on September 23, 2019 at 2:48 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23

SO... Lets talk favors! I know this is a hit or miss thing with most people but we decided we wanted to do favors! Its a DW so we figured edible would be the ebst bet, let all the drunkies take the food home to enjoy later on in their cabins. We are doing custom donuts as our dessert and figured we will have lots of extras for people to take with them BUT we also wanted to do cinnamon kettle corn in cute bags with tags on them with our wedding info. Sounds liek a great plan to me... except I didn't think about the popcorn getting stale putting it into these little bags. Has anyone done this? How far in advance did you put the popcorn in the little bags?

Check my little tags I made for them!!!

Thanks for "Popping" by! Wedding Favors! 1

That's such a cute idea! I don't think the popcorn would get stale as long as they were in air tight bags. I would say you could prep them at least a couple days in advance.

The tags are so cute. I would not have thought about the popcorn going stale either. What is your current thought on the timeline of getting these together?

Well I bought the cone bags (typically what people use for piping frosting), I will be twist tying them shut and then tying with string for the tags. You think that will be air tight enough?

Thanks I made them using word swag and then printed and cut haha. I originally wanted to do a week in advance (done the Sunday before the wedding) because I work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then leave after work Wednesday to go to TN. Once up there we will be picking people up from airports, doing the rehearsal, getting nails done and our marriage license so didn't want to do it once we got up there. Now Im questioning that. I didn't even think about it going stale. I'm buying it this coming up weekend from the local farm out by my house (its so yummy) and it will be in sealed bags.

Yeah I've been set on edible favors since we decided on a DW I was like I will be left with so much stuff because everyone is traveling if I do anything tangible so figured food would be best bet! Smiley smile Thanks, I was looking to purchase similar tags (to save myself another DIY project) but ended up being WAY cheaper to just do it myself! Smiley laugh

As long as you've got that string on there good, that should be just fine. That's about the same as it would be for a loaf of bread in your kitchen, so I don't see why not Smiley smile

Sealed bags should help. Is there a lot of humidity where you are or where you're going? What if you put them in the individual bags, then threw them in another bag like a ziplock to keep them secure? Could help.

Well i live in Fl but come October (and even right now surprisingly) our humidity really starts disappearing. As for where we are going no, TN that time of year virtually none! Smiley laugh Yeah i may buy gallon size zip locks and do it that way.

It will all work out. If your guests are enjoying them after the reception they might not notice after toasting all night. lol

Those are really cute. I think the popcorn will be fine for a few days if the bagged is tied right.

Yes this will work! We did this for our engagement party. We did them like 2 weeks before! We twisted the top and tied a ribbon around them. Worked perfectly!

    2 WEEKSS!!!!Smiley surprise

That makes me feel way better. I'm buying the special popcorn this coming weekend and planned on doing it during the week next week when I work a half day (little one needs to get his cast off so only a half work day for me) lol I was super nervous about a week in advance!

My fiance and I met on Bumble (check out my profile pic!) and have been incorporating low key bee items into the wedding. One of our favorite places to visit is Cape May, so we are doing small (2 oz for planes!) honey jars from a farm there.
