Wedding favors, yes or no?

Melissa, on May 3, 2018 at 6:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 31
My FH and I are trying to do our best at keeping our wedding budget under $3000. All the decorations and flowers will be DIY to help keep costs lower. But we are on the fence about whether to do wedding favors or not. A lot of the weddings I've been to the favors are usually left behind... What do you ladies think?

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I rarely ever keep favors from weddings I attend.

Our wedding is countryside themed and our meal will be picnic-type food. I just feel like favors might be too fancy/ waste of money...

We’re doing and edible “favor” of sorts with a late night snack of pizza being delivered! The weddings I’ve been to with edible favors always go over so well. The last one I went to had warm cookies delivered!

So maybe bowls of those mint things on the tables, then?

We're forgoing the favors because they always get left behind and seem to be a big waste of money. You're already feeding and (I assume) giving your guests drinks for free. Do they really need more?

I don't generally keep favors because I feel like they're usually some useless trinket I don't want taking up space. However one of my cousins had a favor I loved. She and her husband filled little burlap bags with coffee beans, tied them with twine and attached piece of round card stock that they had put their initials on with a wax stamp. It was super cute and I actually drank the coffee and still use the tiny bag.

We opted to donate to a charity in lieu of favors. Instead we'll print cards saying that we did this and explaining the significance the charity. I polled a bunch of people most who said they didn't give a crap about favors and that they would prefer the money go to good use so that's what we did.

I really like that idea! If you don't mind if I use that, then how much coffee would you put ing the bag?

Nope! Waste of time and money. No one wants the crap you get as a favor.

We we are doing a photo booth though, so they’ll be able to keep the print outs after the wedding. And since the pics will be of them, I think they’re more likely to keep it than other kinds of favors.

Favors really aren’t a necessity. 9 times out of 10 they get left behind unless they’re edible.

They filled them up as full as they could but the bag is only like 1.5" by 3" so it wasn't much. FH actually ground and brewed it but I fill like it was probably only enough to fill our 4 cup pot once. I was much more excited about the handy pouch than the coffee lol.

Favors are completely unnecessary and won’t be missed. Put your money towards something more imporatant.

We're doing favors people will actually use. I always find myself with favors that have no purpose and just sit in my house. Our thought right now is mini sparkling grape juice bottles that way the children an non alcohol drinkers can have one.

o here it is. Another thing that I really liked about it was even though some people don’t drink coffee there were plenty of people that we’re happy to take the extra bags.

Our venue was a mill for grain so we're having small loaves of bread with honey as a favor that I'm baking to save money, since you're doing diy you could do that, edible is the way to go imo. Way I see it people eat early at a afternoon wedding then want a little something later. This offers that.

If i didnt have such a great deal on my favors id opt out, also i feel like they are something my guests can keep. Im doing mini succulents in mini lots. I am obtaining the mini pots for free (where im saving so much) also im only having 40 guests, 18 couples so i figured one pot per household would do. If you cant do it extremely cheap and something they will make sure to take home id say opt out of favors

We aren't doing favors for that reason. Most people don't take them or remember them at all anyway. I don't see it as being worth the hassle or money.

I don’t think they are necessary, people asked me if I was doing them & got shocked that I said no. I’m sorry if I think free alcohol is enough of a favor.
