Wedding favors, yes or no?

My FH and I are trying to do our best at keeping our wedding budget under $3000. All the decorations and flowers will be DIY to help keep costs lower. But we are on the fence about whether to do wedding favors or not. A lot of the weddings I've been to the favors are usually left behind... What do...

Favors aren't necessary. If they're not edible, most guests will probably leave them there or throw in a drawer to collect dust. Some may just throw them away. I would say skip it and put that money elsewhere. People aren't going to miss them.

If you're going to do a wedding favor, ensure it's something edible, as you're right - they do typically get left behind otherwise.

I have heard from personal friends, and have read from others on the site that favors are generally left behind by guests. It may be useful to forego favors if you are trying to maintain a strict budget.

I totally agree with this. I can’t remember a single time I left a wedding with a favor I actually cared about. FH and I are planning on doing chocolate chip and sugar cookies (my favorites and his). I mean, who doesn’t like food?!

Never considered it, waste of money and one more thing to worry about!

If you have your heart set on doing favors, something simple like little bags filled with Hershey's kisses or your favorite candys could be done for pretty cheap.

I wasn’t going to but my mom bought cute little boxes and mints that say thanks for sharing our day... In my head I was like if you want to pay for it I guess I’ll do it lol we are now having a candy bar they can put in their box too so that’s an added cost but we are having a lot of kids so I think it will be a hit

I don’t think they’re necessary and most weddings I have gone to give you trinket stuff that ends up in a box because you feel bad about throwing it away. Edible favors are the way to go. We are doing donut favors! A late night snack after drinks and dancing!

We're not exactly doing favors...however there will be a table of cookies and other sweets that guests are more than welcomed to take home with them at the end of the night! I told FH that instead of spending money on the favors, we could put it towards something else that's more important for us to have.

It seems like most people on this forum would say favors are not necessary. This has been asked a lot lately so they must be "falling out of favor". I am not having favors at my wedding.

I think it's a smart thing to not do, to save money. If you really want them, I'd check Party City online. They have some for under $1 each.
