Wedding favors - yes or no?

Emily, on May 13, 2019 at 3:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 49
Hi! Are wedding guest favors necessary? I just feel like everything I’ve found that isn’t cheap or cheesy is a lot of money to spend on items that our guests may not even want or will just get thrown away. What are your thoughts on this?!

They are totally optional and honestly becoming less popular.

Totally optional! I think they are cute, but most likely I wouldn't miss them! The ones we use the most are ornaments we got from a December wedding, and a wine stopper. Neither were personalized.

I think they are unnecessary. We are not having them. I'd rather put the money elsewhere.

Not necessary. That was the first thing my wedding planner told me to skip. She regularly plans $100k+ weddings and told me in her experience they always get left at the end of the night and not to waste money.

Yeah, totally optional, and not something we are spending money on. There are so many other things that FH and I see as more important. Favors often get thrown away, or there are so many left over that guests don't take, you wonder why you spent the money in the first place.

We decided to skip them as well. I know I typically forget mine or bring them home only to trash them later.

Absolutely not necessary. We did them - but just because I found an idea I liked that was super affordable. (Hershey Kisses in tulle bags. Easiest thing ever)

Honestly... I would save expenses, if I were you, and cut out the wedding favors altogether. Not only do the guests not really care for small details like that, but majority of your attendees won't even take them home! They'll be left on the table, or basket, or whatever you plan on having them in through the duration of your wedding. If you wish to spend your money, by all means, go for it! I just wanted to heed you of that warning. Best of luck❣

Thank you! I like that idea! I was thinking of maybe doing something small / affordable like that. Did you personalize the Hershey kisses?

Nope! Just bought them in bulk from Candy Warehouse (I think that's the name of the website, can't remember - it's been a while lol) and got them in silver and purple. Got a ton of little tulle bags on Amazon for like $10, and had some Vistaprint stickers made with a 50% off sale/coupon. We kept it as simple and as affordable as possible. And whatever was left at the end - well, we took it home and ate them ourselves lol

We didn't do favors and no one cared or noticed! Save money and don't bother!

Most of the weddings I've been to haven't had favors. Of the few that have had them, I wouldn't have missed them! We are skipping them so we can spend that money on other things that are more important.

Most will say edible favors if you want to do them. They aren't neccessary so depends on you and your budget. If you don't want edible ones then I would suggest something your ok with having lots of if your guests don't take them like candles, matches, hangover kits, etc!

You could also double up via an edible favor do a photo booth with poloroids they can keep or a photographer?

Skip if you're on a tight budget, not too many people pay attention to them. If you want them anyway something edible like candy in a tulle bag is always more likely to get taken at the end if the night. Practical stuff like wine stoppers and matches too, my fiance wants to give out flashlights because having left overs of those is useful 🤣

We are donating to charity in Lou of favors. There will be a card on each sitting and they will get to pick the charity then we will donate to that charity. We picked 3 they can pick from.

Agreed- optional. We chose to use that money towards a donation in lieu of a small trinket or gift.

We did some cards on favorsfavor.com i believe that’s the site and they gave us poker cards with little birdie box you have type your wedding date when you order it. They also have a site called cheap favors.com i believe . Favors are meant to be something so people can remember you by and they can look at everyday .
