Wedding Favors? Necessary?

Haley, on September 21, 2017 at 2:40 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

I am in the early stages of planning my wedding, and I am curious as to the general opinion around favors, and if they're necessary. I'd rather allocate that money towards a Late Night Snack for guests, or a better band. Is it taboo to not have favors?

I personally wouldn't skip out on them, but it's up to you

It's not necessary. We did them, but we knew our guests would love them. We did wine with personalized labels and koozies..again, know your audience and you're fine if you do choose to do them!

Nope, I have never used a favor from a wedding. We are sending our guests home with a cupcake!

I am doing them. But its our favorite candy and an envelope for their instant photos from the photo booth that says thank you. Very simple. Put it towards something else!

I am not doing them. I've never cared for them as a guest.

Definitely NOT required. A late night snack is a much better use of those funds!

I've been attending weddings for over 30 years and have only kept 1 non personalized favor. Anything with the couple's name and/or wedding date is tossed even though I will take it home to not offend the hosts.

I would prefer late night snacks as a guest! Typically, if the favor isn't edible, then I dont take it home. lol

Not necessary. all of our favours were consumable/long lasting (potted plants from our decor, candy, matchbooks) because we didn't want to send people home with crap that would just get tossed.

I live in Florida. I was debating getting a bunch of cookies from Publix a few days before and putting them into little bags. Tedious things keep me calm, so I wouldn't mind doing it the week of the wedding or recruiting some help from my bridal party. I'm still on the fence about them. We're having an open bar. I feel like that's almost a favor enough! Smiley tongue If I DO choose to do favors, it HAS to be edible. I don't even want a koozie with our names on it...

They are not necessary. I would also prefer a snack to a favor.

NOPE! Not doing them, so many are thrown away or donated. If you're set on doing them food is always a good option.

We're having a cookie table and the cookies are the favors with a little gift bag
