Wedding Favors for 200 Guests

Jessica, on March 18, 2017 at 4:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 38

I don't know what to do about wedding favors. Even simple things like candy is so expensive and nobody really cares about favors anyway. I don't want to waste money on dumb crap. Do you have any good and cheap favor ideas? Is it bad not to have favors?

I've heard the same thing, people don't remember them anyway. Unnecessary cost... Thought back to the last 5 weddings I've been to...And I don't remember them either. Donate to a charity instead.

There are some inexpensive favors out there like bottle openers, but I think most adults already have those. If you're feeding your guests and providing drinks, they'll remember the fun they had rather than the trinket they get at the end. BUT, I did see somewhere that you can box up leftover cake slices for guests to take - that would be a pretty awesome sendoff if you have plenty of slices left.

I don't really think you need them anywhere.....The only thing I remember from recent weddings is a jar of very cool jam that was made by the couple (but who wants to pack that.....) and some honey, also packed by the couple. We talked about both of these in the ceremonies (honey has a lot of mythological qualities and the jelly combined ingredients that are also highly symbolic)

If having a photo booth, have your photo strip as your favor. Otherwise they are not necessary.

Cheap favors would be dumb crap. Either just give candy, like a couple pieces of chocolate in little organza bags, or skip it altogether. And don't donate to charities as favors.

Personally, I wouldn't do favors, I feel like favors are over rated and most people could care less about favors. When I got to a wedding a receive a favor I typically throw it away

I recently went to a wedding and they didn't have favors. We didn't even notice that they had any

@ Jacky H: Why not donate to a charity in lieu of favors? Just because it draws attention to the lack of favors or...?

Because donating doesn't take the place of favors. Donate as often as you can, but it's not a favor.

As you said "...nobody really cares about favors anyway. I don't want to waste money on dumb crap"...

If you have extra money, in the budget, add an hors d'oeuvres.

I have been trying to reduce as much cost as possible also. I dont have 200 guests only like 90 but i decided to instead of a wedding cake do cupcakes and use the cupcakes as a favor in a box for them to take home if they want. The boxes also will circle around the center piece. Then we are just going to sprinkle some hershey kisses on the table.
