Wedding Favors for 200 Guests

I don't know what to do about wedding favors. Even simple things like candy is so expensive and nobody really cares about favors anyway. I don't want to waste money on dumb crap. Do you have any good and cheap favor ideas? Is it bad not to have favors?

We're doing a hot chocolate bar as "favors". Serving it toward the end, to-go cups, so people can take it on their way out. It'll run us about $1-$3 a person, but it's something everyone will enjoy on a cold December night.

    Don't do favors.

Put your money in to food or the bar. No one needs a trinket with a bride and grooms name on it. No one needs a cheap wine glass, koozie (I hate those), shot glass, etc.

For a DW, I wouldn't take favours with you. No-one will want extra things to pack on the way home.

ETA: Sorry confused this with another thread with a DW.

The wedding I just attended had koozies. Personally, I would just go without favors.

I would skip them. If you really want to do favors, do something edible. We're using to go containers on our dessert table as our favors.

We're skipping this since we're having a DW. If you are considering favors, you can simply do m&ms in your wedding colors. I'd rather eat my favor than have it collect dust somewhere in my house.

You could do crack candy. That's what mama is making for our wedding favors. It's called old fashioned candy some places. (Don't worry. There is 0% of food poisoning or anything like that.)

@Rayla donating to a charity in lieu of favors is not a favor to guests at all, because it only benefits the organization and you, not your guests. Your guests might even not be happy if don't agree with your charity. And think of it this way: it would be like me attending your wedding and handing you a card that says "in lieu of your gift, I have made a donation in your honor to the American Cancer Society." The AMC only supports 60% of cancer patients and executive salary are in the $800K to $1.6 million range. Would you agree with my "gift" to you? Weddings are not fundraisers, nor are they the place to display display religious or political beliefs.

My cousin started making homemade soap. Since we are getting married in the Outerbanks of NC, he made a soap that looks like the ocean. He's only charging me at cost price so it's only costing a dollar per bar of soap. His business gets a shout out & we get unique favors. His company info will be on the back & our names & wedding date will be on the front of the label.

I'd skip them tbh. Nobody really remembers them or really cares about them

Hi Jessica, it would be great if you could set an avatar photo. You’ll get more replies on your threads and it’ll help the community recognize you when you post. This can be done from the desktop version of the site, or you can email a picture to community@weddingwire.com and someone will set it for you.

I was going to skip them, but FMIL insisted. So, we did "hugs and kisses from the new Mr and Mrs" tags on small bags of 6 Hershey kisses and hugs candies. It cost less than $100 for 200 of them, but it did take about 3 hours to fill and tie them all

I was going to skip them - but my mom's friend's granddaughter started a home-made soap business

(like what Lauren posted), and she wants to support her ... so mom is paying for it. Either way, it is off my budget.

And if any get left behind, I have free soap to use for home. So like, it's double budget friendly for me.

We're doing a photo booth instead of favors. We figured the photo strips would be fun to take home
