Wedding dress

Shelby, on June 10, 2019 at 10:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
I need advice!!! I picked up my dress March 30 and it fit perfectly. I have been weightlifting for three months now and went to my dress alteration and now it doesn’t fit! My wedding is in September

So, you’ve completed your final fitting already? That seems super early. My planner tells me they can go up or down 2 sizes with bridal gowns. Hmmmm.. sounds like you might have to have another alteration and a final fitting closer to your wedding day?

Is it too big or too small now? (With weight lifting it could honestly go either way, depending on your starting measurements.) I've had to cut a crap ton of muscle before, and I did it with changing my eating and exercise patterns.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Shelby!

I’m really sorry to hear about this little hiccup in your planning.

Did your seamstress have any advice about how to fix it at the alteration appointment? He/she would really be in the best position to advise what can be done with the gown to make it fit again.

You still have sometime so I wouldn’t worry much just yet. If you’re doing weightlifting and the dress is now small I think you maybe need to do some cardio as well. This way you loose weight while continue to build muscle and tone up. You might also need to change eating habits for this. But you have time so you should be good!

This is what I was going to suggest, along with switching to a more veg-fruit-protein-healthy fats and fewer carbs lifestyle. It helped me slim some of my muscle down when I was eating like this and doing lots of cardio in the Mediterranean.... they call it the “Mediterranean diet” but it’s not a fad or crash diet, it’s a lifestyle of millions of people so it’s nit bad for you at all.

Girl, I had the same issue; luckily I got my dress at David's Bridal they were able to exchange it for a better size. I am just waiting for it to arrive to get my fittings in and my wedding is in less than 60 days.

Hi Shelby. Did you and your seamstress decide what to do about the dress? Is it fitting now?
