Wedding dress shopping

Dawnmarie, on November 21, 2019 at 7:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 21
My wedding is in July 2021 but I’m getting anxious and starting to look! I know what I want for years now. Bad idea?

I am like the others. Haven't officially chosen a date but we're fall next year and I went shopping right away. Gi for it. Plus pending delivery time and if needed alterations you don't wanna wait last minute.

I would start looking around lightly ! Sometimes the type dress you believe you want may not give you that “feeling” when you actually put it on.

Hey Dawnmarie!! Welcome to the community!! Congratulations on your engagement!

My only word of caution about being your dress too early is then to continue browsing bridal gowns and finding something that you love more. This is something that you should keep in mind. What style of dress do you have your eye on?

I bought my dress 19 months out because I loved it and my weight doesn’t fluctuate

I would look around now and maybe go to bridal shops! It idk if I would commit to a dress just yet, at least I wouldn’t feel pressured to. But browsing is a definite yes! The more time you have to try on dresses, the better.

I would go make an appointment and try some on. I went secretly by myself and didn't find anything I liked but it was nice to be able to think without all the noise before I went with everyone else. It also made me chill out a bit because I was really excited as well! If you find it, tell the consultant that you weren't supposed to come alone and have a pretend appointment with everyone that was supposed to be there a couple months later. My consultant told me this happens more often than you would think.

Don't do it! Mine is 8/21/21 and i went out to see what looks good on me and find a style or 2 that i liked and I found a dress that I absolutely loved. You definitely don't want to look yet though. Styles change and if your size changes, they can typically alter the dress about 2 sizes. Also dress regret!

I got my dress the week after I got engaged. That was the only easy decision I’ve made about my wedding. I wish the rest of it was as easy as the dress. When you know, you know. I’ve had it for months now and never gave it another thought. If that’s what you want you should go for it. Then post a picture here so I can see!

My wedding is June 2021 and I've now bought, and exchanged my dress xD. If you were unsure about what you wanted it might be too early, but if you've known for years and you're sure I see no problem with looking now.

If you know what you want, no harm in going and trying something on. When you try it on you could either get all the feels of what you've been wanting or it might not be the one and then you have more time to try something else. I'm getting married May 2021. I know what style I'd like but want to get an idea of how the style looks on me. Very eager to start looking too and I might do so on my own so I can figure out what style(s) look best. I can take it from there with the rest of the details...sleeves, open back, strapless, etc. I work a few blocks away from Kleinfeld's...its a no brainer for a lunch time try on Smiley smile Good luck and hope everything works out for you.

Thanks! I’m going to Castle Couture and I’m bound to fall in love with something. I’m just so anxious to get a dress it’s been all I think about lately so I hope I don’t regret it lol. Thanks for your insight ❤️

Come in with an open mind. I never thought a ballgown would look good on me because I'm petite or be manageable for me because of the weight, but I found one, and it looks great and is a manageable weight!

My wedding is November 2020 and I purchased my dress on July 16th, 2019. As long as you love your dress, I say go for it! Just don't make the mistake of going dress shopping AFTER you've said "yes."

Mine is March 2021 and I already bought my dress! Like you, I already knew what I wanted so when I happened to find it, I didn’t wait! Don’t see the harm in it as long as you’re not worried about having buyer’s remorse and you’re not likely to change your mind later and want a different style.

I say you can look but don’t purchase right away. New styles and new collections come out and you definitely don’t want dress regret for something you may love more but already bought another one. I’d purchase more like 12 months out but that’s just my opinion
