I bought my dress about 10 months out. It should be ready in December, so it took about 7 months to be made. So buying a year or so out is totally reasonable. Definitely go look around now and see what kind of styles you like, but if you wait a little longer new dresses will come out that you make like, or dresses from this season will go on sale.
